I have been on tour with dogs, and it is not really fair to the dog.  My wife also lost a dog in the lot, which although we found out what happened 5 years later (rescued by a friend!) it was days of going to pounds and shelters and then heartbreak.  I have also seen dogs in the lot that have been given acid, and that is NOT a cool thing to see.  Some dogs are independent and can do it.  Our older dog was on tour for years and could stay in the lot unsupervised, and actually went into Oswego on her own.  But, it was always a pain smuggling her into hotels and all of that.  I say, as a rule, that it is always a bad idea, but some dogs can deal with it a lot better.  Our older dog (RIP) was just a garbage hound, so she was happy as a clam in the lot.  plus she grew up in the lot since she was a puppy, so she was totally used to it.  When I have had to bring my other dog, he was usually not too stoked, and neither was I when I would have to take him down the elevator (stealth) and have to take him out to pee in 5 degree weather (Boston 12/2/03).  plus, it's hard to hide a german shepherd......

depends.... but i would agree with you, especially with small dogs

but still, a dog needs a direction, and that means leaving him/her in the right hands...

I've been racking my brains, running through my record collection in my mind to tell you what records are my secret shame and I've decided i have none. I love everything I own and am proud of it. Music should bring joy, not guilt.

do you own any bad idea jeans,by chance?

i think i would consider not going if i had to take my dog...is it possible for you just to board your dog near home instead of having to do it at every show??

i couldnt put him in a boarding place for that long.  just thought at least this way he would only have to be away from me a couple hours each day

Perhaps you should consider seeing fewer shows?

I think I am going to pick the most responsible person I know and pay them to stay at my house while Im gone.  It helps too that I can swing through here for the starlake show and check up.  Just thought it would be fun to have my dog along with me.  He loves traveling and I have a huge conversion van.

maybe i'll just save that for a nice cross country trip some other time
