Dave's Picks 24 - Berkeley Community Theater 8/25/72

http://www.dead.net/store/special-edition-shops/almanac/daves-picks-volume-24?intcmp=home/carousel1

Announced and sold out in a few hours.   :-o
berkeley 72 rocks. very underated shows imo.
post europe and then pigpens departure there is a clear build up of energy  that culminates with Veneta which is obviously the paridigm shift that would determine their direction for the next 2 years.
pretty sure 8-22 with what i consider a top 5 other one, and the 24th w/ the dark star are better but the 1st set of the 25th was a very criculated tape back in the day.

funny about 8-25. i actually have to frozen lager on my fav old mixtape and it also contains what is by far my favortie stage banter ever.
-paraphrase:

WEir: " every year in Kentucky they have whats known a 'hollerin' contest'"
CROWD: " OWOOOOOOO..."
GARCIA: "- This ain't Kentucky man!, -Its Berkley."
Weir- "This is the focal point of the discemination of knowledge"
GARcia- "He had roses for lunch"
WEir " You don't applaud the Zen art of FLower arrangement"

HIlarious!  :hereitisyousentimentalbastard

That stage banter in on the Listening Part sample, skip to 7:45

you guys are as allergic to the west coast as JRAD  :|

Good luck on the tour though, looks awesome

Playing Cali, Oregon and Washington isn't nearly as fun as playing Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska.

Somebody's gotta check in on Slim every now and then!

(also, a little birdie told me you both should keep the first weekend of March 2018 available  8-) )

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The gig we needed to be back in CO for fell through, so there's a chance we can still pull something together in TX Dec. 15th or 16th....
Looks like we may be in Dallas on 12/15...

Interesting!

We were aiming for Austin the following night but apparently there were a bunch of competing shows that date so the venues wouldn't bite...

Canít we find you an opening slot?

That was the goal, but line-ups had been solidified as we were a bit late to the game on this date.
