Weird Stereo Problem

I've got an old Kenwood 2-channel system that I run my TV through. Today I went to put it on the tuner and noticed no sound was coming out. I then turned on the TV and the right speaker started playing the TV audio. In fact, no matter what setting the stereo was on, the TV audio was all that would play and only through the right channel. I tried unplugging and reconnecting everything but no luck.

Anyone seen anything like this before or have any advice?

There's a silver lining to this story.
Circuit City is having a huge sale this weekend.

Try reversing the speaker cables to see if it is a cable or receiver issue.
Circuit city's sale has great deals on cables.

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

Balance knob?

If his left ear is damaged, it may well throw off his balance.

I figured out a workaround. Basically the right channel plays whatever is on either of the video inputs no matter which source you select. And the left channel plays on the CD input. so I plugged the input from the TV into the left channel of the CD input and the right channel of Video 1 and now it's working.

might be time for a new receiver

I think you've diagnosed the problem.
