yeah, the UIC shows were a bit overhyped, underperformed, IMO...

i really enjoy the 1st night, and love the Gin from the 3rd, but the rest is a bit up and down.

i haven't heard the first two, but the second set third night has that amazing gin.
all the way through slave it's a very hot set, though it dies with the rather tepid yem.

i listened to the first set of 1993-05-03 today at work and probably looked like a fool at a couple points when i got lost in it... one of those times where i really felt the energy of the band. goosebumps. yeah.

First time hearing front to end, both nights on a non-commercial release.
Both nights were solid if not spectacular, it was kind of sad hearing his blown 28Jan.70 MSG gig.  Supposedly he was dosed by either his manager, Michael "the douche" Jefferys or one of his troubled gf's, Devon ????? whom inspired Jimi's Dolly Dagger.  Hendrix did not always keep the best of company

JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE
I Don't Live Today, Maybe Tomorrow

The Forum, Los Angeles, April 26, 1969
Liberated Living Legend bootleg
Songs put in the right order
Excellent stereo soundboard denoised

1. Introduction by Jimmy Rabbit / Tax Free
2. Foxy Lady
3. Red House
4. Spanish Castle Magic
5. Star Spangled Banner
6. Purple Haze
7. I Don't Live Today
8. Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) / Sunshine Of Your Love

Jimi Hendrix - guitar, vocals
Noel Redding - bass
Mitch Mitchell - drums

Recorded by Abe Jacob for Wally Heider's Recording Mobile

Another cooker Experience style> rabid crowd, Jimi sounds like he's in a good mood and focused at the task at hand.  No real highlight as the whole show rocks front to back> SCMagic features some extended solo improvisation that is quite inventive for one man filling a space as large as the Forum.  SSBanner>Purple Haze foreshadows the Woodstock version but I like this outing better, it sounds more raw as Jimi ad-libs, "'scuse me while I kiss that policeman over there." :-D
Voodoo>Sunshine is a psychadelic delight where his microphone drops out but adds to the uniqueness of this at times country blues.
Great show.

Jimi Hendrix
K.B.Hallen, Copenhagen, Denmark
Thursday 3 September 1970

The first & third cuts in the tape are very short and clean so these
probably are cuts that have come about in later cassette generations. The master must be a reel to reel recording as the sound quality is so good, the second cut occurs roughly at the 45min mark.

comments:

the drum solo fades out and Ezy Ryder fades in.  There was possibly a tape flip at this point.

A much better show then 3 days later, as someone else mentioned on another thread this is comparable to Berkeley in performance, this being his last truly great live concert.  A+(sound B).

This show falls in line w/ Isle of Wight in terms of performance.

Here is an excerpt from Johnny Blacks JH The Ultimate Experience
17July1970
Don Friedman (promoter): He(Hendrix) was consuming drugs non-stop.  He was mixing them.  He was drinking.  He was smoking grass and snorting coke.  He may have had some heroin, because I know there was some in the room.  I remember Michael Jeffery coming up to me over and over again.  He kept saying,'Put him on!  Put him on or he won't make it!'

edit> this version of Red House appeared on the now out of circulation Jimi Hendrix Concerts.

Bach's 6th Brandenburg Concerto (better known as the theme to
Masterpiece Theatre).
La Grange made its first appearance since August 14, 1993 (215 shows).

i forgot how good these were!
the 28th is straight bees knees.
as for the real gin, i never was a big fan of it.

I love the Real Gin but find the Bass Duel to be quite skippable.
