Well folks, by popular request (or was that poplar? i speak to the trees, forgive me), we will be having our first annual week4paug.net Awards, 2007 Extra Special Happy Edition, Volume II.

we need a few volunteers for this:  a host, some presenters, a house band, vote tally-ers, some decision-making people to pick the top 5 or 10 nominees from each category...  i figure we should have a few volunteers who will wade through the crap and post some polls where we can vote over the course of a few weeks. 

i envision this as running through the end of the year - all posts from 12:01am 1.1.2007 until 11:59pm EST on 12.31.2007 should be considered as eligible for these awards.  therefore, start collecting things that should be nominated, make some posts about em now, and we can add to it as the year draws to a close.

while i'd love to be in charge of this, i simply don't have the time to do it diligently, so hopefully a few of you can step up to the task here and organize this shit.

For the actual event, does anyone know anything about internet radio streams like livephish radio?  if we did we could nominate a dj for the event...get our own from the archives show going...

One question to think about: how will we hold the event? Forum style would be okay I guess, but there would probably be a lot of scrolling/refreshing to do...maybe we could set up a chat room?  theres gotta be a chat room application that we could add to the site for the event like the homepage of LL.  just my 2 cents...

New pic, this one has more of the tetons, the first one is more of Mt. Moran and the north section of the range. Still pretty amazing either way, one of my favorite places to be

there actually is a chat mod i could install here, but there are some hitches to that which i'm not sure if we'll be able to overcome.

a podcast is an interesting idea, if someone wanted to really put some production time into it...  otherwise, i'm happy using the forum as, errr... a forum for this.

maybe just decide a time for the awards show, and post an award every 15 minutes or something.  Then everyone can reread the threads and comment in the awards thread.  And maybe we could make a drinking game out of it too, I know I will.

ok.  shall we set an arbitrary date?  should be in January or beginning of February at the latest.  it should take just a few weeks to do all the voting... leave each poll open for 5 days?  the results should be kept private for the person running that award thread, and the complete results of that will be posted to announce the winner.

I like this idea.  When, I don't know.  Weekends work better for me, but this place is only really hot when peps are getting paid to do other things.  Randomly, how about starting voting on Fri 1-11 or Sat 1-12.  That gives us a little over a week from the end of the year to weigh our decisions.


And I don't mind helping out in any other capacity I'm needed either.

Spanning weekends makes sense, as well as there are def. people who post with less frequency during the weekdays.

Also, I think holding it in the forum would work just fine.
