It's ok, kinda groovy but the sound is way too techno.
it's not techno if you play instruments.
It is dance music, though.
what a GREAT thing to wake up to!!

To be like bisco, they'd have to heat the peaks immediately and hold them until the show is over.
Thanks for sharing these man! I've never really seen them play before, except for on one of the late night shows plugging their latest album. Which definitely didn't even compare to that. I can't wait till Aug. I'm gonna see them at the Virgin music festival. This just got me so pumped!!!

I'm pissed they're playing that waste of a $ fest. $95 for one day? f- that.
I wish they'd play a real venue in town...
Hah... this is the LAST thing I thought they sounded like. I would have never guessed that you guys would like anything like this, what with all the Bisco trash talking. These guys are good, I like it. The singing is kinda meh sometimes, but the music is great. I wish they'd have jammed the ending to All My Friends because they had the energy really up there. Im about halfway through Yeah right now. I really like the drummer. Haha this jam is sick, after the vocals end in Yeah. I think these guys are really gonna help propel the trancefusion genre into more legit territory.

::pukes:: LCD IS NOT "TRANCEFUSION" WHATEVER THE FUCK THAT MEANS. THEY ARE DANCE PUNK DRAWING FROM THE TRADITION OF GANG OF FOUR, PIL, THE FALL, AND OTHER LEGITIMATELY TALENTED GROUPS.
READ THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dance-punk?
Ok. I would not have really thought that, but i don't know the sub-cultures of techno, i just thought it was Electronic Music. I heard them (him) on NPR not too long ago and really enjoyed hearing how he put the album together, then found musicians to take it on the road. I like them a lot. You suggest i listen to the aforementioned groups then? Peace
No Gang of Four, no LCD, Rapture, !!! and a crap load of other bands, at the very least check them out.
Not a huge PIL fan, although their first couple albums are great and it's cool to hear what Johnny did after the Sex Pistols. Personally, I don't like The Fall but their influence on LCD is apparent.
whoah dude.... chill out. Trancefusion is exactly what it sounds like: trance music done in the context of a rock band, just like traditional (jazz) fusion is jazz music done in a rock context.
its just a description of what the band does... you could just as easily call it dance music, however I feel that that label indicates an artist that only sings and has studio musicians perform on their albums without having their own real band.

Whateves, you just have no clue as to what you are talking about, "trance" is shite like Oakenfold and John Dickweed and it should not be used to describe bands like LCD. Calling them "trancefusion" is like calling the Beastie Boys "rap metal" or some other travesty.

Definelty not trancefusion. This term denotes a fusion style with trance, a genre that LCD draws no influence from. Popular trance artists include simon posford and all his groups, ott, and infected mushroom. There are definelty general electronic influences but as fas as spcefics within this larger heading the genres are more dance or even tech-house to a very small degree. They are more influenced by punk and indie music imo. I would def refer to them as dance punk.
One of their primary influences is the group (now defunct) six finger satelite. James murphy got his start producing them and they used to feature a guitarist who now goes by juan maclean.

Honestly, I like the myspace ones a little better, just because they have a few more that aren't on the latest album, but their performances bring it no matter what.
I would recommend getting the self-titled album to start with them, but either would do.
He is balls out the entire night, with the other members adding percussive accents when they aren't doing otherwise.
He relies a lot on volume. Songs like "yeah"( on the myspace link) and Beat Connestion are good examples.

QuoteThe new Noah Baumbach film is called Greenberg and it features a score by LCD Soundsystem mastermind James Murphy. The soundtrack boasts 11 Murphy solo pieces and one new LCD Soundsystem song, along with tunes by Nite Jewel, Albert Hammond, Galaxie 500, the Sonics, and Duran Duran.
Talking about the soundtrack to Drowned in Sound recently, Murphy said it "sounds NOTHING like LCD, really. it's made to fit the movie, not be 'my record'." Segue: LCD Soundsystem's new album is due out later in the Spring.
The Greenberg soundtrack is out in the UK March 22 on DFA/Parlophone. The Greenberg movie is out in select U.S. cities March 26.
A list of songs on the soundtrack awaits:
Greenberg Soundtrack:
01 James Murphy: "People"
02 Nite Jewel: "Suburbia"
03 James Murphy: "Sleepy Baby"
04 James Murphy: "Thumbs"
05 Albert Hammond: "It Never Rains in Southern California"
06 James Murphy: "Plenty of Time"
07 James Murphy: "Photographs"
08 James Murphy: "Gente"
09 Galaxie 500: "Strange"
10 LCD Soundsystem: "Oh You (Christmas Blues)"
11 James Murphy: "Birthday Song"
12 James Murphy: "Dear You"
13 The Sonics: "Shot Down"
14 Duran Duran: "The Chauffeur"
15 James Murphy: "If You Need a Friend"

Just got around to listening to this and I gotta say I'm a bit befuddled by it.
If he's kidding I can't say that it's particularly funny. And if this isn't an attempt at a novelty single, then I'm really worried that the new album will be a steaming pile of poo.

LCD Soundsystem
"There's good news and bad news. The good news is we're here. The bad news is I'm wasted." James Murphy, who claimed to be swilling his "special drink" (champagne and whiskey) all night, kept trying to set the bar low for last night's LCD Soundsystem show at Music Hall of Williamsburg, the first the band has played in three years... a fact that he kept hammering into the crowd. "This is the longest we haven't played in the history of the band. It's not really a 'show,' it's a live rehearsal."
He was right, technically. Not only was it the live debut of new material from LCD's upcoming third album, This Is Happening, but also the first for the new six-piece (at times seven) version of the band, still anchored around the core of Murphy, keyboardist Nancy Whang and drummer Pat Mahoney. All of Murphy's hemming and hawing was for nought. This is contender for show of the year. LCD Soundsystem blew the lid off the joint for almost two hours.
The band mostly ignored the new album. "I made a conscious decision not to play too much of the new stuff in the early part of the tour," Murphy said. "I remember being a kid taking the train two hours just to hear 'This Charming Man' only to get 'Panic." (Of all the things to be jealous of, Murphy also saw the Smiths.) Instead we were treated to a cavalcade of hits including "Your City's a Sucker," "Tribulations," "All My Friends," "Losing My Edge," "Yeah," "Someone Great," and show-closer "New York, I Love You."
Only two new songs were played. The VU-meets-Bowie first single "Drunk Girls" and what will surely be the second single, "I Can Change" that is more Gary Numan or Eurythmics (you can hum "Love is a Stranger" to it). The latter was more successful, though I think "Drunk Girls" is gonna turn into a big summer single once people hear it spun in a club at maximum volume. I wish they'd have played a couple more tunes, especially the Roxy/Eno-ish rocker "All I Want" but we'll get those in time.
Seriously, no complaints at all. The crowd was going mental for the last half of the 90-plus minute set, especially during "Yeah" and "Someone Great." Maybe too mental. After an early attempt at a mosh pit, Murphy and Whang put the kybosh on such behavior. "If you're dancing and not within two people of a girl," Whang explained. "You're doing it wrong." Murphy added, "Dance up and down!" In addition to the crowd, the stage was packed on the side like a hip hop show, including Hot Chip's Al Doyle who was LCD's touring guitarist on previous excursions.
Murphy must've reminded us ten times that this was LCD's first show in ages and they were under-rehearsed. (Though I heard they used MHoW as a practice space all week.) But clearly New York had missed LCD Soundsystem. And they missed playing. Three years was definitely too long. But, thankfully, absolutely, they haven't lost their edge.

I've been listening to the files from the Long Goodbye a bunch lately.
The show rocked, but I've come to the conclusion that I don't need to own a vinyl copy of it.
That's just an aside.
The other day, the Live at Alexandria album came up on shuffle and it sounded like Phish 3.0 compared to the MSG show.
Same material, just so thin sounding next to this.

Pretty sure the article says rumors have been swirling for "about a year or so" not that a year long tour is in the works.
Yes. Chance of LCD coming to Portland: less than zero percent. :|
See you in Indio then? :-D
Small chance
This is only driving down the cost of the MSG box.
All part of my plan...
only making me more bummed my every-other-Coachella plan is not coming to fruition. I keep telling myself I'd rather see a full show anyway
Ahhh I thought it was gonna be just like festival appearances and maybe a couple one off shows fo a year :shakehead: oh well
Doubt I'd make it out to coachella but maybe if there rest of the line up is good
No need to go to coachella dudes!
2016 tour dates coming soon

Welp, I stand corrected. The full Coachella line up is pretty weak, I think I'll pass.

Eh, the real reason to go to Coachella is the undercard and my reaction to most of this year's acts is more "that'd be cool to see" rather than "holy shit!" Not gonna drop 400 when I should be able to cruise up to Seattle to see LCD in a theater.
So pumped!! Looks like we're going to Seattle, Hicks, lol.
Hoping for a Red Rocks date or even the Fillmore/Ogden would be solid.

100% agree, I was kidding.
I really hate travelling for a fest set anyway.
I will attend a show if it is reasonable.
Secret show in NYC tonight! My brother in law (Burmese Python) and other friends are there! On one hand I'm all :beerbang: :raw: and on the other hand I am all :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated:

Never mind...they just heard LCD rehearsing in the practice space but the secret show was santagold....
Two new tracks dropping tonight at midnight, Australian time, so basically any time now? Also, SNL this week.

I like the new tracks.
At first glance "Call The Police" sounds like U2 but I like U2, generally. I like "American Dream" more.
LCD added to Sasquatch, not going but outside chance they add a Portland show before or after.

http://pitchfork.com/news/lcd-soundsystem-announce-new-album-american-dream-world-tour/ (http://pitchfork.com/news/lcd-soundsystem-announce-new-album-american-dream-world-tour/)
LCD just announced 20 shows at Boorklyn Steel from End of Nov-End of Dec. They'll take place on November 23, 24, 29, and 30, and on December 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, and 21.
Don't forget, a few of those shows are exclusively for AMEX card holders!

looks like there still some for face on sunday 12/5 axs had a rere
Jealous dude, have fun!
Looks like they've been going on a little after 9.
they go on at 9:15 each night, and play until 11:30 (there's an 'encore break' at like 10:45)
the variety in the setlists is pretty substantial for them - a lot of similar songs each night, but different order (except the encore) and some unique ones so far each night - covers, debuts, etc.
the venue is awesome, as usual. if you have Amex and get there early, you get discounted drink tickets, coat check, and balcony access (which has its own bar)

Snoozed on face value but got a pair for this Sunday 12/5 for $130 each after fees. I can justify that. Thanks!

um WOW that will be amazing
I always wanted to see Macaulay Culkin tableflip a punch bowl full of egg nog.
the sitcom parts were very cheesy, as i'd expect from Abso Lutely Productions... the show was FIRE
Thought that was awesome. Wish it was longer but it was great.
anyone know of a link to re-watch this?
