I voted Dylan and I'm pleasantly surprised that Zappa isn't destroying this category.

Very Close. But gotta go with Frank on this one. Frank is the man and will always be.

Zappa is cool and all, but Dylan pretty much invented modern rock lyric writing, so it would be a travesty if he lost in round 1 IMO.

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

Exactly.
We'd all still be considering the profundity of "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" were it not for Mr. Dylan.

tough call but Zappa gets much more play time from me.

This was exactly the same logic I used to decide.

only on a phish site would this be a tie

It was a pretty easy decision for me, but I knew that collectively as a group, this would be a damn close one.

If Joe's Garage is why you like Zappa, then great. But you really need to listen to some more Zappa. It's definitely my least favorite Zappa album.
I've been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul
