You haven't lived until you've had a robot shart in your ear and followed along in the live setlist thread while it happens.

The finals would be Miles "acoustic" vs Miles electric.

my vote is for Bird
I'm assuming Miles "acoustic" would be the quintet, and how about Mingus with Dolphy and without.

well, there's the Miles Quintet with Trane, Sextet with Trane and Adderly and Quintet with Herbie. Not to mention the Birth of the Blues band (octet or nonet, I forget) and the switches in the rhythm section
imo you can only slice and dice so much.

and, I would take them all ahead of the Talking Heads

(not a negative on the Talking Heads)

Talking Heads had several different "expanded" line-ups... This one was the best, though:

David Byrne
Tina Weymouth
Chris Frantz
Jerry Harrison
Steve Scales
Bernie Worrell
Dolette MacDonald
Buster Jones
Adrien Belew

Prime example:

I've been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul

That would be my favorite TH line-up. Good stuff right there.
And also, that clip... I think I have that on dvd and I'm pretty sure I may have gotten it from you.

Speaking of! Dude, can I get a copy of that from you at JF?! I know we had talked about it before, but I don't remember what happened. Anyhow, the Born Under Punches is my fav from those clips that I've seen:
