and even more concerning is the note at the top of bt.etree.org.  "bt.etree.org and db.etree are back!  These are the official etree.org websites, accept no substitutes!  More updates to come!"

While I use the bt.etree site all the time, it's replaceable (and hasn't been maintained or updated in a very long time.  The db, however, is irreplaceable (and I have personally put in thousands of hours keeping track of stuff).  I know that the db and bt folks have long standing disagreements.  When the sites went down a few weeks ago, Tom and Mark (who control db) put it back up here: https://db.etreedb.org/  Right now, that and the original http://db.etree.org/ are both active.

This is just going to cause confusion, as it's unlikely that anything entered at one will show up at the other site.  And in this context, the statement at the top of bt.etree.org about "accept no substitutes" seems like a direct jab at the db folks, who just tried to keep things going when etree went down.  Does anyone know what's really going on there?

I sent a pm to someone in SHNfamily who's a volunteer over at the new bt, hopefully he'll have more info.  I'll post when I hear back, but I agree 100%.  That remark reads like some kind of trollish pot shot.

You never drink alone when you have something good to listen to.

I've been discussing where to store future PH Source Info (Tom's DB.DB or ETREE's "accept no substitute" DB) with Matt Vernon and Jeff Mitchell...  I'll let you know what we decide...

But to put to rest one point of speculation above, any entry onto Tom's DB.DB does not show up on ETREE's DB, and vice versa.  A day or so ago, I entered a new Source into DB.DB and its not on ETREE DB.  The last show there was added back before the Crash (ph1994-04-25 methinks).

For now, if anyone has any new Sources, please hold off on adding them to DB (or DB.DB) until we figure this all out...

Thanks!

Terry
Oh! That! No, no, no, you're not ready to step into The Court of the Crimson King. At this stage in your training an album like that could turn you into an evil scientist.

I think the email from Tom this afternoon makes it clear all future efforts should move over to https://db.etreedb.org/

They got hacked, broke the rest of etree.org for a month, got kicked out of etree.org and stole user account data, in violation of etree.org privacy policy, You're okay with that?

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

No reason not to use Lossless Legs if you have Phish AUDs to share...

Strictly speaking, this is true.

But Phish is a sub-culture at LL, which will always be Dead focused.

I just thought it might be nice to have a place where you don't have random crusty old deadheads popping up in chat or in the comments to remind you how much they think Phish sucks.

This is part of the reason I no longer use the site.  I spent a few years seeding (2 sources per day was my limit) every phish source I have there in case something like this happened.  I wanted a place for people to go to get Phish.  In the long run, it didn't work out.  99% of the people at LL don't care about Phish, and when asked if i could have my moderator status back (I was bumped down to a seederwhen I left)so that I could continue with the Phish project, they hesitated and said they would discuss it.  I don't think they want the increase in membership.  I know they are working on a new bt site, so with that in kind, I think everything will work out just as it's supposed to.
