maybe if you are going a song you haven tcaught yet, or maybe just something you think would be perfect for the moment, or whatever.
i got a few that i've been thinking about, but i'll have to mull it over a bit to pick just one.

Yeah, I've actually been imagining them doing that (2001) for the 3/6 opener. Would be too sick to handle. People would just start flailing about on the ground in ecstasy, I mean on ecstasy. lolol. My two picks (Gumbo, Lifeboy) are because those are songs I love, but have a low chance of being played.

I'm not a huge 2001 fan, especially if it's of the 20 minute variety, but I'll take anything that gets the crowd energized. Feeling the collective rush of excitement and energy from the fans at a Phish show, during any song, is one of the greatest concert happenings ever.

This is a tough thread... because theres so many songs that I desperately want (Ghost, Divided Sky, Mike's, I Am Hydrogen, Down With Disease, Piper) and some that I desperately want, but really don't think I'll get (McGrupp, Whats The Use?, Mango Song, Divided Sky, Tube, Halley's Comet).
But I've been thinking... and as much as I want all those songs, I keep coming back to Whats The Use?. Ugh... that would be fucking INCREDIBLE.
"What's The Use" is more suitable for a hot summer show...
When you're sweating from the top of your head to 'neath your scrot and your buzz has your head feeling about three feet thick.
That's when that song works best.

My prediction for first night's opener is Reba. Never been played at Hampton and weren't they overheard practicing it in NYC recently? I don't think I totally pulled that out of my arse ...
I also think a Free would be appropriate at some point ("I feel the feeling I forgot").
I have been mulling it over for quite some time, and I keep coming back to Ghost, however I would love to hear them drop a Peaches out of no where.
