I'm coming up on a quarter century soon - how time flies - and the funny thing about Phish is that, no matter how hard I try not to, they keep tricking me into having a good time.

:frustrated:

or......................

Would be nice of them to work out the proper way to end Taste.

in an era of pet peeves, that may be my own personal peeviest. they've yet to play a single version of Taste in 3.0 that didn't have a screwed up ending.

Taste is one thing

But not having one really good and unique Mike's or YEM is another thing
If this is love, I'm never going home..

MSG 09 YEM passes that test IMO. Still one of my fav cuts of 3.0.

this. the msg 10 yem isnt bad either.
reading composed section was a trainwreck.
a couple other yems I remember were pretty good. The MPP 2010 YEM. MPP 2013 YEM
Camden 2010 yem wasnt bad either.

sophist

but they all are the same record.  So how do they really pass that test?  Listenable?  Sure.  Interesting?  Nope.
Can we talk about the Dead?  I'd love to talk about the fucking Grateful Dead, for once, can we please discuss the Grateful FUCKING Dead!?!?!?!

Yeah, pretty much. The band made it through the composed and jam sections without any major flubs or miscues.
Jam might not have gone anywhere, but it wasnt a trainwreck or a false start.

Compared to the composed sections in Bowie, Reba and YEM alone, it's EASY.   And it's one of my favorite things they used to play............I don't think it's asking too much to spend some time working it out.

The 8 minute Mike's are something else entirely.   That song only really works as a vehicle to an end-of-world, barn-burning jam.   It's not supposed to be Mike's>Stranglehold>end.

I call bullshit.

Go back to the beginning.

Mike's Song works just fine as a short piece, a part of the whole Mike's Groove or, as they called it in the 80's, "Total Mike's".
