has there been rips of the video streams?  I'd love to see that Harpua.  I got home just in time for the start of it on the audio stream.

So, I missed Drowned and unfortumately saw Harpua and Wind Cries Mary.

Another good one. So mad I'm missing these. Wind cries Mary would be awesome to see. What was the harpua story?

Esther and the last 5 of the first set are $

It's good to be back, they are still sounding so awesome

Drowned>asihtos was the definitive highlight for me. They were jamming.

Forbins sounded good as well, at least the fluttery Trey parts that he usually misses. Such a good song

Harpua was... long...and I really couldn't understand them through the PA so, not sure about that.

Encore was great and unexpected

Best band ever.

Harpua was about the theory that the universe is actually donut shaped. Trey and Mike sat down and the four of them had a conversation about it... Seemed fairly scripted. Pretty funny.
Also: there's real science there.

100% scripted. As in they were all reading from scripts.

Practically shit my pants this morning when I saw they played Wind Cries Mary. Always been my favorite Hendrix tune.  I was hoping for an Izabella but I'll gladly take this.

Page was the best actor, surprisingly followed by Fish.
Trey was OK and Mike was quite bad at reading lines in any convincing way.

I enjoyed the first set. Good flow to the set and Trey's playing through a lot those composed songs was really strong. Not perfect, but like Tela the other night, probably about as good as it gets which I am cool with.

Second set smoked start to finish and I love a good let's-run-this-joke-into-the-ground bit a la the universe/donut story. The unconvincing acting was part of the charm. Sure it went on a little too long and I can see how it would be tough to understand through the PA, but via the stream it was pretty lulzy.

Anyone ever figure out what Mike was playing with during Drowned and ASIHTOS? Looked kinda like a microphone but he was blowing into it like a mini-didgeridoo. He also used it as a slide at once or twice.

Finally, didn't see mention of this so for posterity: during Summertime a shirt got thrown onto the stage. Mike picked it up, smiled, and showed Trey. When they came back out for the encore Trey was wearing it, which said IS THIS STILL LAWN BOY? in the style of LET TREY SING. I lol'd.

I predict little to no work coming from me today or tomorrow but I cannot wait for tomorrow night. Best band ever.

The Jimi cover sounded like a High School band was playing.
So thin and lifeless.
Trey should chat with John Mayer.

Alas, it is true. That was terrible. Jimi deserves better.

But Drowned and A Song I Heard are weird and cool. And I was amused by Harpua.

We aren't really complaining about the acting quality in a Harpua gag, are we?
Also, Mary sounded fine from where I stood. Would have preferred the Bold as Love that I called, of course.

Last night seemed like a really fun show. Spinning it now, really enjoying Trey's chops these days. He's not flub free, but he seems to be playing the composed sections of difficult tunes a lot better than in previous tours.

I really liked what I saw/heard.  missed most of the drowned jam and all of SIHTOS so missed a fair bit of the meat, but I liked what I saw.  No complaints from the encore here, but I was also half asleep.  My wife went and she said energy in venue was great.

Drowned and Ocean was the goods and paired very nicely with the CK5 action. It'll be interesting to hear how that plays on tape. Great vibe in the room and the 2001 dance party was oodles of fun.

Was hoping for a Machine Gun w/ sit in by Billy Cox.  The Wind Cries doesn't bode well for MSG.  Hendrix played it on his up and up, after he graduated to venues like the Garden he stopped playing it.  I'm sure he didn't play it live after '68.

so....  Drowned > ASIHTOS.  I'm so glad that we have this band back.  This is incredible stuff, man.  It sounds so 2.0-y, in a healthy way.  I **Love** that they're dipping down into the energy spectrum and exploring and drawing out the chill jams and not forcing things to a rock peak.  Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Edit:  This also might be the best Esther in over 20 years....

People who hate spinning. I've always loved the muted strum sound (with the volume pedal) in the composed section of Esther

Nonsense. If I didn't like you so much, I'd ask RJ to break out the ban hammer. Do you hate your fellow phans? Why would you put them through that? I saw a rumor on reddit. But they also alluded to "fishman's surgery" which I'm pretty sure was super minor, and happened right after Mexico this year... So they may be a little out of the loop.

Where have you guys been? Fishman IS Trump. It's part of a very elaborate gag. Think about it, have you ever seen them in the same room at the same time? No.

How can people hate Esther?  That song is pure, unadulterated Phish.  A song I know I'll never see but would be so happy.  So many songs are on that list:  Esther, Billy Breathes, ForbinBird, Mountains in the Mist, Pebbles and Marbles, TMWSIY.

Anyway, on topic..... this ASIHTOS might be the coolest thing they've played.  The outro for this jam is so incredibly unique and cool.  It gets to a space that reminds me of the interstellar late-night grooves of Cypress and Fukuoka.  It's so weird, but so together.  Trey doing his divebomb loops, Page keeping it together with his organ lick....  just wonderful wonderful stuff.

It's really cool that we got to see Real Phish at least once in 3.0 before the end came.  This is real Phish to me.  This is the band.  3.0 has been fine and great many times over, but this is finally the real Phish with no boundaries.  Anything goes.

And it's funny because Tuesday night when they hit Piper, I was a little disappointed because I had a thought like "aww man, it's going to have a jam..." because it's not a surprise.  The best thing about this run has been the surprise jams.  I want more of this.

I heard Trey fired Fish backstage last night and they are bringing in the drummer from Smash Mouth as a replacement.

All Star opener!
