I think that both Mike's & Weekapaug from 12-31-95 should be used to make your decision on this one. Even if set break replaced Hydrogen. I still consider it a full Mike's groove, especially since now when listening to it we don't have to wait for 45 minutes between the two. I am going to go ahead and place my vote for MSG.
"I used to be 'with it', but then they changed what 'it' was and now what I'm with isn't 'it' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary to me"

You haven't lived until you've had a robot shart in your ear and followed along in the live setlist thread while it happens.

6/17/94 Mike's Groove is the reason I listen to Phish.

RUN, OJ, RUN!

I voted MSG.

That whole 95 new years run lead up to the mikes. Shit was unbelievable.

I've been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul

What sometimes gets lost in the playfulness of the OJ Groove is just how tight it is. It's not just hilarious, it also is seamlessly interwoven into some really good music (unlike the gimmicks of today where they break out a light saber or some sombreros and everyone forgets that they sounded like shit). I've reached for that one more than once to introduce a curious bystander what it is that gets me all geeked up for the Phish.

But...MSG is what I reach for when I want to be blown away. It really is just on a whole nother level. And if you include the Paug with it, it's really not even close for me (although I think the Mike's holds its own by itself just fine).

I do love the OJ show.
Also, the best version of Purple Rain was played the previous night.

Bah, that's bullshit.
Reba from 12/31/95 leaves this Mike's crying in the schoolyard playground.

I did, however, vote for the MSG Mike's.  :-D
Dysfunction and itemized lists of people's failures are where it's at.

I feel like New years 93 was a peak, then 94 -> Mike's 95 was a peak..

Probably the biggest and best of them all

If this is love, I'm never going home..

This. OJ Mike's groove is the quintessential "this is what phish is about" jam, imo. I had several friends try to tell me in high school that 12/31/95 mike's was better. It's one of my favorite shows, and that mike's groove is dirty, but it doesn't come close to OJ mike's for me.

I'm not sure if I followed this thread correctly, but what guys are saying is that Dave Thomas sold crack in inner-city DC in the mid-80's, right?
