It seems as if the people that design these things have no idea how we will use them - every "enhancement" actually creates more work.

I, too, have been having a bad technology day. And it always has to happen when we are working on some critical shit.
Sucks when it happens during crunch time, but whenever the technology gremlins attack on non-crunch time, I'm usually grateful.
"Now my boss doesn't mind if I dick around on the internet for an unspecified amount of time to fix a problem they know way less about than me"
is how I look at it on especially boring (and unproductive days) days.
ETA: And yes, I'm not a total dick, I do feel bad about being unproductive, but we all have those days. I'm just glad when technology breakdown is there to make the excuses easy.
