ok... I barely listened last night so all judgments are based on listening to the FLACS today.

AC/DC Bag - Good opener. They break it way down in there with Fish riding the cowbell and everyone else stop/starting then a quiet steady build on Trey's late solo.

NICU - No botch. Nice Page solo. I love this song.

Jiboo - cue whales. this did not suck but it's not my jam. Exactly 10minutes.

PYITE - Comments at the time that I received via txt mentioned this intro being extend and hot. It seems to me like they aren't hitting the groove. that changes though and the song itself seems to go just fine.

Sparkle - was Sparkle

Gin - Pretty good version I guess. Not one for the books but substantial and probably was a lot of fun for those present.

Zero - Mid set is actually good placement for this song. This version is only maybe average.

> Tweezer - Trey wastes not time in kicking this off during the close of Zero. Short, dull Ebeneezer. Page hits the clavinet for some funk. Cool jam... Trey throws on the breaks though

> Horse > Silent - Sweet and well done.

Antelope - This is cool. gets flat out shragetastic ~7mins before the rye rye rocco but then it's pretty much over.

Intro The Boss

Mustang Sally - taken on it's own, without expectiations that are attached to "Phish at Bonnaroo" this is really ok. Only "ok" because Springsteen's voice is kinda cringe-inducing. Reminds me of George Clinton in Miami. and his guitar solo? It should suffice to convince folks that Trey is still playing at a high level. Jeez, this is ten minutes long? oh, first since 6-21-1988. You guys were just hoping and praying it'd come back, weren't ya?

Bobby Jean - I'm sure this was a thrill for Trey to be backing up one of his idols. But didn't Springsteen get a set of his own on Saturday? Poor Mr. Keybord Player over there is just playing the same thing over and over through this song. Trey's solo is good as it should be for this basic basic stuff.

Glory Days - ?Really? Again, Phish turns out to be a very competent backing back for straight ahead Jersey rawk. there is some better guitar dueling in this one. It does, in fact, rock. If they'd only played this one, people would hail this sit in as an absolute success.

Set two later.

That's kinda how Springsteen works talks.
"Mr Keyboard Player, gimme a solo!"
"Hey Mr. Saxophone Man, take it away!"
"Mr. Mailbox, gimme my letters!"

You get the idea.

I know, I grew up around NYC. Bruce is part of the culture around here. I thought the first set was a solid B/B+; highlights for me were PYITE and Antelope. I'd give those an A. I liked the Silent and NICU as well.

Let me say that I am definitely a Springsteen fan; I have seen him in concert and it is a hell of a show. That being said, I can appreciate the sentiment of the sit-in and accept it for what it was. It was Trey getting to play with one of the guys who got him started playing guitar. I don't think it was expected to be more than  having fun and jamming it out regardless of what people think. Most fans expected some type of sit-in over the weekend and they got it.

I went to bed at the break and will give set 2 a listen this afternoon; folly aside, so far a solid effort with a few high points.

Oh, and can they play Zero a little more often?

Looks like they did this exact combo @ Camden, btw. (only more betterer.)

I think both tweezers, Camden and 'Roo2, take a very similar turn toward a 2 Major Chord jam as well.  I'm re-listening to Camden right now, definitely in 2 major chord territory, and I'll be listening to the Roo tweezer as soon as it DLs..  see how similar they really are.  I remember thinking last night, "this Tweezer sounds very much like the one from Camden" so, anyways, i'll report back.
