What's in your garden?
flow00:
I have a big yard by Detroit standards and planted some veggies earlier this month. I'm growing tomatoes, peppers, watermelons, sage, oregano, basil and some pot. Everything is organic. My dogs are great because they keep away the critters, but they love trampling on the plants.
There's something great about eating a tomato off of a vine that you watched grow all season.
Anyone else growing food or other goodies?
alcoholandcoffeebeans:
living in a 9th floor apt in downtown chicago makes it kinda hard to grow anything, but i do have a basil plant in my kitchen :)
but, 2 out of the three years i lived in VA, i helped keep up a huge garden at the outdoor adventure camp i spent three summers and almost two full years at... we had, black berries, blue berries, raspberries, tomatoes, corn, potatoes, every herb imaginable to cook with, string beans, squash, okra, raddish, cumcumbers, zucchini, pumpkins, lettuce, and i'm sure i'm forgetting some things.... plus an apple & pear orchard.
i think helping with that garden year round taught me more discipline than anything... the rewards are great AND delicious :)
slslbs:

nothing like watching something grow, picking it, and eating it the same day.

Just Italian Basil and Thai Basil.
rowjimmy:
We have tomatoes, basil (two kinds), green peppers, banana peppers, squash & zucchini, watermelon, and some other things. Plus, there's our permanent herb garden with an epic rosemary bush (along with two others that I do not recall.)
