All Things COMIC BOOKS

mistercharlie:
So it was stated in another that we need a Comic Book thread, and I happen to agree. There's always something to talk about comic book-wise.

I just finished reading Batman: The Long Halloween. I read the whole thing in a single sitting today. I hadn't read it since it came out 13 years ago and I liked it a hell of a lot better now than I did back then. I have the other two Jeph Loeb/Tim Sale Batman books coming to me via my local public library.

And to start off the thread, here's a question:

Marvel or DC?

I'm a DC dude myself, you'll always find me in either a Phish shirt, a Batman shirt or my Green Lantern shirt (the one Green Lantern shirt gets worn more than all my Batman shirts combined.).

phil:
The Walking Dead is the only comic book I've ever read. I love the shit out of it. Other than that, I do have a few issues of this weird comic book concerning Boba Fett that came free with some action figure or something that I bought as a kid.

cactusfan:
i loved Stray Toasters, an epically weird four issue series from the mid- '80s, in my very brief days collecting a very few comics:

i also read Cerebus The Aardvark for many years, until the creator, Dave Sim, went completely batshit insane and began publishing longer and longer, more and more religiously and misogynistically insane, laughably argued essays in place of the actual comic. which story turned to crap, too. impressive, though, that he began doing it in the late '70s, when almost no one was making independent comics, and said he'd keep doing it for 300 issues. which he did. though, yeah, a good 120 of those issues sucked.

but for a long time it was a very smart, very funny, beautifully drawn comic.

there was a great wolverine parody character for a few issues, until marvel threatened to sue.

fauxpaxfauxreal:
didn't slim start a comic book thread a long time ago or something?

Superfreakie:
DC is for kids
Marvel is for adults and intelligent kids.

sorry Charlie
