it used to be that if I typed something into the address bar it would either do a Google search or just take me to the relevant website. I've done something and now I got fucking Bing in there.  anybody know how to switch back to Google?  I know I have a Google search box just to the right but we are creatures of habit

click the bing logo next to the search bar. it should be a drop down menu and allow you to choose a different search engine.

that's how it is for the search box in the upper right, but doesn't do anything in the address bar.

fuck bing

I've got an add-on called Omnibar installed.  It combines the main URL bar and the search bar.  It should allow you to set Google as the search

I have the same problem except mine searches through AVG.  Would love to switch that back to google.

In the address bar, type "about:config".
It'll ask if you're sure. Tell it you'll be careful.
Scan down to "keyword.URL" (or search for it).
Right click it. Click "Reset".
And that should do it.
I'd rather dwell in some dark holler where the sun refuses to shine, where the wild birds of heaven can't hear me when I whine.

Sidebars?
Screen real estate is for content.

That said, the narrow bookmark bar ends in "other bookmarks" which descend upon the screen in a sidebar like fashion but then leaves you alone until you call upon it again.

that and downthemall were my biggest reasons for staying with firefox.
I now like the chrome bookmarks better and found a better way to download than downthemall.
I even tried going back to firefox a couple months ago and couldn't.  chrome is so much better for me now.

I was having issues with the previous version of Firefox thus leading me to dabble in Chrome but it wouldn't stick.  new new Firefox purrs though.

I was having this issue with the most recent firefox update where one of my add-ons was causing my browser to crash almost every 10-15 minutes. super annoying. but I disabled that add-on (1 click weather) and it's all good.

I've tried to switch to chrome a few times but I keep coming back to firefox.
Just two whiskies, officer.

I'm not sure if I followed this thread correctly, but what guys are saying is that Dave Thomas sold crack in inner-city DC in the mid-80's, right?
