So, with nothing to hate on for a couple of weeks, I figured we could kill the time by getting pissy at each other with another tournament. Here's what I came up with:

Send me your all-time favorite versions of the 8 songs shown below. With 5 weeks until leg two starts up, we can get a 32 song tournament in which means the top 4 versions per song get thrown into the bracket. Nothing like some all-time Phish leading up to a 3.0 west coast run!!!

I wanted to keep the brackets relatively homogenous to give the voting some level of objectivity so I matched up songs that I think could be reasonably considered similar in structure (e.g., jam vehicles vs. composed). Of course, both the songs and the matchups can be subject to some debate (but not much because the schedule is pretty tight).

If you're interested, send me your picks right away. I'll need some time to put together the final bracket over the weekend to get it going by next Monday. You can send as many or as few versions per song as you'd like; all choices will be weighted equally (i.e., I don't give a care if XZY is def #1 but ABC is like maybe #3 or 4). However, PLEASE try to be specific about the date as I don't feel like having to figure out what you are talking about.

Sending my picks now. I found it pretty easy to pick my favorite versions of everything except Tweezer and YEM, those two took quite a bit of thought.


My pick to win it all would be either the 11-14-95 Stash or the 7-29-98 Gin.

I don't like it because there's no opportunity to accuse someone of not liking Phish because they don't like the Lille McGrupp.
