That Berlin show might be my favorite.

Yeah. I've had that one forever and recently just found a new link for it.
Had to give it a spin.

Nice, is it an upgrade in sound? Mine is kind of quiet.

Seems about the same, but there is a German station ID during the encore break which my old copy never had.

Ah, that's the copy I have.

I've been hooked on these Grappa Boom shows the last few days. Wish Mike would do something like this again, would be fun to check out.

Grappa Boom, 05/31/2003
Iron Horse Music Hall, Northampton, MA

Set 1: Listos Tres, I'm Working on a Building > Reuben's Train, Tears, Doin' My Time, Ain't Love Funny, Chaconne, Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered, Nigyl Tufnel, Blue Bayou, So What, Devil's Dream
Encore: Backtrackin'

Set 1: Dark Eyes, Sea of Regret, Red Haired Boy, Ballad for Trio, Billie's Bounce, Old Ebenezer Scrooge, Grappa, Floppy Eared Mule > Take Me Out, A-OK, Half Creek[1], Little Maggie[1], Everybody's Talkin', Air Mail Special
Encore: Six Blade Knife
[1] Gordon Stone on banjo.

Notes: This was the second of two separate-entry performances of the evening (late show). Gordon Stone sat in on banjo for "Half Creek" and "Little Maggie."
Sometimes we live no particular way but our own.

I've always really liked this Tube. It is a shade under the Phoenix version, but it always does it for me. These Birds during this tour - fiery, straight to the point affairs - remind me of Llama in years gone by. Bag has its moments. Obviously, top 5 version of Gin.

Really like the Roggae in this show, Trey stumbles on a nice lilt with about two minutes to go that I haven't heard or remember in other versions. Other than the Cities though, this show doesn't have spit against the previous two nights.

Cities is great.
Kinda sloppy to begin, but gets pretty epic.
The Rift was a kickdown at that point, too.

Cities was a high point of the year I think, you were wise and lucky to jump on at that point. I only saw ATL that summer.

Having listened to all of 7/98 in the last week, this is the time in their history I think where the Rift tunes started to get away from them. I know there were hiccups with MFMF more than a year before in Germany, but those songs require a high level of skill that they were using the Island Tour funk to hide from.

I don't know, just thinking out loud here.
