I do love this run as well. DL has been a godsend for us.

I do not love the art.

There.
I said it.

Speaks to the timelessness and incredible beauty of the Grateful Dead's music

Dead and Co sucks but if it brings in beautiful women who might let me toss in the Boise 83 Franklins or the Hampton 81 Let it grow, I'm all for it.

The new Deadcasts revolving around this box are great, as per usual.

I was a bit confused by all the non-GD content to kick off Ep2...

my dad is a huge baseball fan , and watches the Royals here religiously.
i always find it funny when they have their Grateful Dead night.
idk why, but just makes me wonder how big of a cross over demographic they actually have of Royals fans and deadheads in 2024 lol.

Dude....I've believed for a long time that this run has been "understated" due to the movie having been culled from it. If I had a time machine, I think that's the run I would pick. I've thought long a hand about this. LOL.

yeah, i'd definitely agree.
there are serious all time versions.

For example in 10-19s case, it takes some serious juice for a standard Sat nite, us blues encore to stand out as much as they do.
or, like that 2nd set where it totally vears off from the he's gone >truckin transition into the caution jam and beautiful space before they actually get into the truckin. really deep stuff.

Considering how the dead usually didnt play as well for big planned shows, the winterland energy was so peak throughout this run i think it really transcended the band to another level despite everything going on around them.
definitely a time machine run.

In honor of Duke '78 - watch Donna snap a rail back on stage at 4:20 as they slide into Supplication. Good lord, the snowy days.

78 is so coked up.

i found that stage setup really interesting. never noticed it before with Keith sorta slammed up front closer to the middle. maybe its the camera angle idk. seems very cozy though.

And Phil walking around him... sometimes directly behind, sometimes further back on the stage.

Took Jerry a few songs to get warmed up but by the time they start Loser Jerry is shining with all his powers on display.

Jerry's mic is fucked for the first couple songs anyway.
I know that chose to isolate this show for the 'high' energy and because they could leverage the film but it's not the best show of the set.
