been gettin into some primal dead this week.. seems to help distract me from the pain issues im having atm lol... whatever works right?

anyway.. listened to the 2-9-69 pittsburgh show , which is just great front to back, but tonite while takin a walk i threw on 2-12-69 late-- Holy fuck this ELEVEN is pure fire.
highly recommend if you need to remove any thoughts from your brain.

what I did see online looks pretty cool. I still have some issue with the tempos but the screens look cool. I'd go see anything at the Sphere.

Jay Lane has helped immensely with a few of the tempos that had descended to dirges. China cat still sucks. But that PRS Silver Sky sounded buttery as fuck last year (2023). Note the year prior (2022), I caught them with Kreutzman at Darien Lake and I swore I would never see them again. It was awful. Missing key changes, no real jamming or interplay. Then I saw them at Fenway last year, given it was in my backyard, and I had a blast. Enough so that I flew out to SF for the final three at Oracle. And I had a blast there. The "vibe" was also stellar at all the shows. Same with good golly, miss....   

On a whim I put on some Folsom 23 yesterday (Spotify has, like, every D&C show it seems) and my god, are you right about Jay Lane. Actual energy and dynamics in the drums. Objectively good music. Then I compared to some of the same songs played at the same venue the year prior and it's just night and day. I thought the "creative differences" explanation behind Billy's departure was fairly laughable given this particular band, but one can see the basis for it now. No wonder they wanted to do a huge Sphere residency after logging a whole year with Lane.

"Rhino Boy" is one helluva drummer!! I've seen him with Primus, Ratdog, Flying Frog Brigade and a few others I'm sure. he truly is a beast! (but not enough to get me to listen to any more Deaf & Slow)
