Nice. I just listened to this Gin last week as I was flailing around aimlessly trying to find the NTJ clip, but it's been a while I heard the whole show. I'm also surprised at how poorly '97 has been represented on the master list. Looking forward to this one.

This BEK is one of my all-time favorite Phish jams. EVAR!
I might not be gentle on this second set, tho.....

I can't say whether I have ever heard this show, but throught Twist right now and I really have enjoyed BEK and Twist.   :rockout:

Definitely does not get all the love it deserves.   This was my 17th show and great way to end the weekend after the Hampton madness!

The BEK and overall flow of the first set is smooth funk butta.

Just gave it a spin.  One of those jams where it sounds like the music is playing the band, as opposed to the other way around.
Inspired HEAT.

I was just thinking this right now, towards the end of Stash.  They sound posessed.

x2

While I love the BEK/Moma groove, this one didn't elicit more than a "Hey, where's Fish?" on my walk in this morning. Giving another listen now.

ETA: ok, it's a little sloppy up front, but it does bring some pretty serious heat at the end

i've always found mysterious your hatred of this gin. i look forward to your review explaining such insanity!
you're not a fan of the 12/6 tweezer either, is that right?

anyhow. i love this gin and this show.

Set I

My Soul -  I like this song, but then , I wasn't on tour in those days so I never burned out on it. Fine version.

Theme - A little extra gravy from Trey on his solo...

BEK - Never saw the hype here. This song reminds me of 3.0 Phish. The composed bits are just ok and the "jam" rages in a rawk fashion. High energy but not mindblowing by a stretch.

Sparkle - Yep

Twist - Cool and >

Stash - I used ten minutes of this version in my Stash mix. It's easily one of my all-time favorite versions and yes, I heard the flub early on... 'nuff said.

NICU - Loose version.

Fluff - Yay! Pills! Flubtacular and not for the first time tonight. Nice peak, of course.

Zero - happened.

Set II

Gin - Insane intro from Page (standard). Wow. Rawk Jamming. It's an all-over-the-map Gin and it's cool. Does this thing ever slow down? Lotta Trey wank. Fish and Mike and page are going off but Trey is wanking all over the top. I kinda dozed off just now.

DWD > Low Rider > DWD - DWD is cool. Nice jamming in the first part that leads to Low Rider. I don't HATE Low Rider and the segue and novelty are nifty. Good thing they didn't do it again, though.  The DWD Reprise rips.

Bold As Love - Woohoo!

Encore

Julius - standard Rippin' Rawk.

Not my favorite show.
I love the Stash, though.

whatapiper

I had a feeling this show would elicit some interesting responses, Trey getting "wanky" is a phrase I will not soon forget  :hereitisyousentimentalbastard
