29 years ago tonight was the first time Runaway Jim got blown out of the water for 30+ minutes. One of the best jams ever.

I meant to post this yesterday, 20th anniversary of the SPAC Piper.  And that set also had one of the best versions of Gotta Jibboo, Limb By Limb, and Velvet Sea.

That was a hell of a time.

My buddy Chris, with whom I attended that show, came on BrokedownPod in 2019 and we talked about it. SHIT was WILD.

My first Dead show was a very surreal experience for me in alot of ways, but nothing like what i would consider a normal show for me after that.

Mostly b/c i was 100% sober, and i think the first time i even smoked pot was only a few days earlier at a Rush Merriweather show... which is fucking weird now that i think about it, but some dude during the Neil Peart drum solo next to me and my cousin was getting rowdy and a random hippy sorta helped us avoid him then offered us a pipe.

Anyway,  this was right after i graduated, and my super over protective parents still clinging to what control they had over me only let me go to the Dead show b/c my friends mom (who was a head) took us.

We actually were pretty far up on the field  maybe 20 rows back and i had a good time, and really had no clue about Casey being a bustout, but the train horns and crowd were definitely wild.

32 years ago the Dead strolled though Deer Creek. I found my stubs in a book at my grandma's house last week.  Only $22.50! The Ticketbastard fees are more than that these days!

You haven't lived until you've had a robot shart in your ear and followed along in the live setlist thread while it happens.

This is the day every year where I kick myself for not knowing 'never miss a Sunday show"!!!

Still miss ya, Jerr Bear!

30 years ago today I finally made it into my first phish show at Great Woods.  I got too spun the week before at the Mann to actually go in, and I missed the last Gamehendge (until NYE23) by one night.

What a long strange trip it has been.

A few days late on this, but 25(gasp) years ago this week, we did 3 nights 7/8-7/10 Va Beach, Merriweather, and Camden leading up to Oswego later in the month. I saw phish once in '97, 4 times in '98 and this was the start of seeing them 11 times in 1999. My obsession was cemented at Hampton 98, but hit the high gear this summer and December tours, capping off at Big Cypress.

Highlights from this year have been discussed at length. But from these 3 shows in particular, I love the VA Beach Fee, BOAF, Terrapin, and we learned how to do the Meatstick Dance from Mike and Trey. Merriweather brought what might be a perfect first set setlist for me, Sofi Dillof came out for the Meatstick dance, Mikes > sweet emotion, and fun Hood Encore. Camden fluffhead was amazing and we all know about that Chalkdust. What a fun run of shows and they only built on the excitement I was feeling at the time for my first festy in a few weeks.

32 year phishaversary today!

PHISH, SATURDAY 07/11/1992
GARDEN STATE ARTS CENTER
Holmdel, NJ
SET 1: The Landlady, Runaway Jim, Foam, Sparkle, Stash, The Squirming Coil, Cavern > Vacuum Solo > Cavern, You Enjoy Myself, Suzy Greenberg

This show was part of the H.O.R.D.E. tour that also featured Aquarium Rescue Unit, Blues Traveler, The Spin Doctors and Widespread Panic. Several "official" H.O.R.D.E. dancers took the stage during The Landlady to dance with Trey and Mike. Landlady contained an Oye Como Va tease from Trey. During the tramps segment of YEM, an extra tramp and microphone were brought out for John Popper. On his first jump, though, Popper jumped right through the trampoline. Embarrassed, he left the stage.
