Watched this the other night off netflix, funky Meters set from Jazzfest 2000, decent set, but it's the 30 mins of interview footage afterwards with Art and George that's worth getting the dvd for.

In any case, time for my daily mental break, exhausted, and all the noise I'm getting thrown at me this morning makes this the most appropriate:

8 weeks to go!

Cannot wait to be back in NOLA!!!
I've been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul

gah

52 days to go. In saving for this trip, sometimes you gotta be...

Nice - that song will be in my head the rest of the day. Thank you, my friend. Thank you very much!

I'm so in the mood for Jazzfest...

Always. But especially today, with it being 77 out, sunny, makes me feel like I should be standing in the middle of a racetrack throwing down to something dirty from the ninth ward. what what!

Damn! Just watched the Trombone Shorty&Orleans Avenue at Austin City Limits performance. I'm very pumped. I really loved what Ivan Neville was adding as well. Good stuff!

So when does the actual schedule come out?

Saw Trombone Shorty added a 9PM show on Friday at Mahalia Jackson with Ozomali. $60 is pretty steep.... sup wit that? Still might do it though and still be able to hit up New Mastersounds or Kraz and GPJr at the Parish for the 2am.

funk yeah

The Mahalia Jackson is pretty big, but the sound and lights will be top-notch in there... more-so than almost anywhere else you'll go for late night shows during Jazzfest. It will feel like a true theater show.

Agreed. I enjoyed the funky Meters/ Galactic show there last year greatly. Don't know if I'm down for this show though, gotta see what else comes out.

Also,

Midnite Disturbers = nastiest horn line up you'll see at fest

Also, who said the cubes were happening today? They vary that release, looking back over the last 6 years, it's been as early as Mar 23rd and as late as April 6, with the average being the last week of March, so today would be super early.
