Madonna's a whore that wishes she had half the performance skills of MJ in his prime.

I'll fix and further that!

I was just teasing GAH.  I was simply making the point that I was not into pop music back then (or now for that matter) and my wife used to dance with her friends to Thriller until they wore the tape out.  I put him in the Madonna category in that they were huge pop icons of the 80s.
Ah forget it, it doesn't matter anyway.  :shakehead:

Ha! I was ready to box over Michael Jackson not being teeny bopper.   :-D

BB, I know you were messing around, but I also fully believe Igbo's blood pressure went up on this one.  :hereitisyousentimentalbastard

Baby Be Mine, Human Nature, The Girl Is Mine = a lot.

Baby Be Mine is a bad song but Lady In My Life isn't?

Have you even heard the songs in question?

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

I didn't even remember Lady In My Life... It's the worst of 'em.

The hits are great, but my point remains the same - lots of filler.

You're nuts Baby Be Mine is a classic, it would have been a massive hit on any other album.

Same with Human Nature.

ETA:  Human Nature actually was a top ten single.

Madonna wishes she had half the performance skills of MJ in his prime.

1.  that video where she deepthroats a huge bottle

2.  that video where she's tied up in a chair in a leather outfit

3.  Cleavage in "Secret" video

4.  Hard Nips in "Ray of Light" video

5.  80% of "Body of Evidence"

6.  "Sex"

7.  Early huge-hairy-beav pix

Oh wait, were you talking about music-related "performance"?

We should start an "Everything would be better as an EP" thread.

Your knowledge of Madonna's finest moments is indeed impressive.

Or "65 minute CDs that would've been better as a 40 minute record"

I'll give you Baby Be Mine, but Human Nature should be skipped unless you're making a playlist of cheesy 80s slow jams.

Said playlist is pretty much just cougar-bait at this point.

Is there a standard minute cut-off for EP status?  40 minutes sounds accurate unless we're dealing with punk bands, and we aren't.  Punk band EPs are roughly 7 minutes long, I assume.

The popularity of Thriller on this board baffles me.

Does it also baffle you that it has sold over 60 million copies worldwide?
honestly, yes
but, on this board, the phrase popularity does not equal talent / quality etc (or something like that) has been said many times, and it's true.
also, imo, if it wasn't for the vids, this album wouldn't have done half as well as it did. even I have to admit, the vids are good.
MJ was a great entertainer, I don't put his music in the same category. I don't consider him a great musician, vocalist, or writer.

I consider him a great vocalist.  sure he could dance also but its his vocals that I enjoy most.

The world needs cheesy 80s slow jams and Human Nature is the Citizen Kane of the genre.

A true testament to 80s cheese for all time.

there are enough cheesy songs

the world needs more great songs - songs that are well composed with great lyrics.
Like a Rolling Stone
Ballad of a Thin Man
Tombstone Blues
Just Like Tom Thumbs Blues
It Takes a Lot to Laugh...
Desolation Row
