This blog was not sweet:

Dude is bitter and unrealistic about the ticketing contracts and whatnot.

Worst part is that he's gotten syndicated onto Huffington Post with this garbage.

I could pick this apart point by point but why bother.

Something has stuck in this guy's craw and he's inventing elaborate conspiracies that, while they may acknowledge some fundamental shittiness about how major venus allocate and sell their tickets nowadays, assumes quite a bit more evil on the part of all involved than I find anywhere near plausible.
Is this still Wombat?

yeah, the guy is bitter.

I had to laugh though when he made it sound like the GD themselves weren't concerned with commerce. Sure, they played free shows early on, and they were the 1st band to really allow taping.
But the Grateful Dead was, and is,  definitely a business with one of the better marketing machines going.

reminds me of the kid in Festival Express yelling at Jerry cause, like, concert tickets cost money, and Jerry was just looking at him all like, 'Huh?'

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

Warren, huh?  No thanks.

Can't see this happening anyway.
His eyes were clean and pure but his mind was so deranged

Rampant speculation is rampant.

I am highly doubtful that they book other dates although, obviously they could do it and get PAID.

I think additional dates wouldn't likely upset me unless they were local to me but I do think they would lend a degree of credence to the "money grab" camp.

Honestly I thought is was a little strange that they didn't do anything in the Bay area

I don't care one way or the other

^^^Yeah. There may be a touch of sour grapes here, but a full-scale  :phish: fest is honestly a bigger draw for me than FTW.

Agree. Hotel already booked for Watkins Glen, assuming the dates being kicked around are valid.

You're entitled to your opinion but I'm going to laugh at it.

Its funny because this is the first time anything like this could work on a tour level for stadiums.

If they really were about money grabbing, they would take this on the road for a month, and then call it.  I'm not sure why they didn't, because 3 shows is going to produce pretty lackluster performances, especially given the fact that these dudes are fucking old now.  I get why they do it this way, for the memorial aspect of everything, but from a musical quality standpoint, this probably isn't going to be very memorable.  Although I hope I am SO wrong.  I would love to be proven completely wrong on this, but.....   unless they literally practice together for a week straight at least beforehand, 6-8 hours a day....  I just don't realistically seeing this having any playback value aside from the cast it is made from.

i donno, maybe I'm bitter I couldn't get tickets.  Trey and Bruce with Phil....  are you kidding?

I think I got it but he's such a spaz he'll probably never open this thread again

If it's going to be bad because they're old, how would a month on the road make it better?
