How did you feel about their switch to a funkier sound at the time? Was this you're first witness of that newer sound?

I went to the 12/13/97 Albany closer and had heard some of the tapes circulating, but I admit that I wasn't fully appreciating what was going on at the time. I certainly didn't dislike it by any stretch but I wasn't loving it like I do today.   I'm a slow learner

Trey's LxL solos definitely matured/improved from their 97-98 genesis. Took him till '99 before he settled on the phrasing. This one is pretty messy.

Haha, that's what I had suspected, and I probably would have felt the same at the time. It was just such a drastic change in sound over only a couple of years.

'99 Limb's are the best.  I've always felt they showcase Fishman, as well as Trey, at their absolute pinnacle of "rhythmic jamming"
