Gonna split this one into 2 nights.  Just finished set 1.  Wackiness at the end of MFMF continues.  The Melt is awesome.  The jam out of Makisupa is awesome.  The 2nd Buffalo Bill!  I didn't really realize how rare this song was, as I've caught quite a few of them.  I like the Bill>Makisupa pairing.  Only time that's ever been done.  They did Makisupa>Bill twice in 03 and nearly again at UIC '11.  It almost sounded like the rest of the band wanted to go back into Melt after Makisupa, but Trey forced the Rift.  Great set one!!

SET 3: David Bowie, Bouncing Around the Room, Slave to the Traffic Light > Rift > Sleeping Monkey > Poor Heart, Run Like an Antelope

ENCORE: Amazing Grace, Costume Contest, The Squirming Coil

[1] Vibration of Death; "The Vibration of Death is gone" replaced the usual "The storm is gone."
[2] Phish debut.
[3] Phish debut; lyrics changed to "I told you 'bout Guyute the pig."
[4] Phish debut; instrumental.
[5] Phish debut; ended with band singing "I've got blisters on my fingers" a cappella to the tune of Back In My Hometown.
[6] Phish debut; lyrics changed to reference "Cactus."
[7] Phish debut. Fish on vacuum.
[8] Phish debut. He Ent to the Bog was played on a tape in the background. Fish on vacuum.

Trey teased Buried Alive in Divided Sky. Harpua included the Vibrations of Life and Death. Jimmy decided to put on his favorite album Barney's Greatest Hits, but turned his turntable on the wrong way and started playing it backwards. Fish then proceeded to sing a verse of War Pigs (with the band playing the song as well. Trey subsequently quoted I Love You (a.k.a. the theme to Barney & Friends) before Harpua resumed. Poster was swallowed up into the earth by the Vibration of Death. "The Vibration of Death is gone" replaced the usual "The storm is gone." Prior to the Vibration of Life, Wilson was teased and quoted and Page teased Call to the Post. A Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon tease (the heartbeats from Speak to Me) was pumped through the P.A. at the beginning of the second set. The second set "musical costume" was The Beatles' The Beatles (also known as The White Album) and was selected via fan vote. All of the White Album songs, other than Piggies, were Phish debuts, although Ob La Di, Ob La Da had been jammed or teased on many occasions. Glass Onion's lyrics were changed to "I told you 'bout Guyute the pig." Piggies was played for the first time since November 14, 1985 (884 shows). HYHU was teased prior to Why Don't We Do It in the Road. Birthday wasn't sung; Page and Mike noodled a bit while Fish presented a birthday cake to Brad Sands, who accepted it while wearing a Jon Fishman dress. Helter Skelter ended with the band singing "I've got blisters on my fingers" a cappella to the tune of Back In My Hometown. Honey Pie's lyrics were changed to reference "Cactus." Cry Baby Cry ended with Fish on vacuum with Revolution 9 segueing out of the vacuum solo. The background tape playing along with Revolution 9 was Mike's composition He Ent to the Bog from Phish's White Tape. The song ended with Fish stark naked and running around while the band blew bubbles and waved. Good Night was taped from the album and closed the second set. The third set began with a Custard Pie tease from Trey and an Overture tease from Page, while Bowie contained a Gilligan's Island theme tease from Mike and Antelope's intro contained a Stash tease from Trey. The Costume Contest contained a "Charge!" tease from Page. This show was officially released as Live Phish 13. The soundcheck's Jam was released as an iTunes bonus track called "Glen Falls Soundcheck Jam" and contained a Frankenstein tease from Mike and a May The Force Be With You (The Force Theme from Star Wars) tease from Trey. The Poor Heart and Dog Log in the soundcheck were slow versions.

I appreciate this space to write crappy reviews of amazing shows, but I want to hear YOUR Halloween '94 stores?  Did you go?  Even if you didn't, what did you hear about this show before it happened?  What was the reaction immediately afterwards?  If you're old, chime in...please!

I was there. I went to my landscaping job in Massachusetts that morning bright and early and proceeded to pull out my back. Went home, called my buddy and got myself a ride to Glen Falls. It was a tough ticket. Ended up trading 1/4 oz jar of nice nugs (which wasn't easy to find in the north east in 1994), which was worth way more than face value back then. It was back in the day. Long hair, Patchwork pants, glass pipe with a patchwork pouch. I decorated the nug jar with a bunch of stickers and stuff... First set was hot! War pigs. White album was cool. It went on forever. I saw Fishman run around naked. At some point in the 3rd set I was falling alseep. Overall great night but (maybe oddly) not a holy grail show for me.

PIE-GUY

I met some kids over the summer who were already talking about the band playing an album on Halloween via fan vote... then it became official when they requested mailed-in votes in the Doniac Schvice. I never expected it to be the White Album. It's a HUGE double-album.

Obviously, I was on rec.music.phish that night when someone posted the setlist. Word spread FAST. So did the tapes! Somehow I had a tape of Set 2 before Thanksgiving break.

Friends who were there (and candy-flipped to the gills) all said the same thing... about 2/3 into the White Album they were fucking ITCHING to hear Phish tunes again. I love it on tape, but I think the energy in the room for that long was tough.

It was a marathon show... Phish didn't come on until 9:30pm and played until 3am. Also, the scene getting in was chaotic from all reports I heard. Gate-crashers and shit. There's an epic tale of some wooks who got up the the roof and snuck in via air ducts. I wish I could find it.

I know this show REALLY well. I've listened to all three sets a lot!

Glens Falls was a crazy show and the only one I was able to catch this tour. We were 1 or 2 rows back from "the ice", basically against the boards, but at the far corner. The energy before the show in the lot was frantic and it seemed like the show was mobbed. First set was not perfect, the energy during Frankenstein was off the charts. Found out it was going to be the Beatles between set 1 and 2. Some people I was with were kind of bummed but I was stoked even though it was a looong set. I don't really remember the 3rd set. Probably didn't leave the lot until 4:30.  Great show!

Not a huge fan of sets one and three but absolutely love the White Album set.  So many great versions.  Glass Onion, WMGGW(Trey throws down hard, check out the video), Martha My Dear with Trey playing the horn parts on his 'doc, Piggies, Sexy Sadie, Savoy Trouble.  As good as this show is, and the preceding show in Spartanburg, its the next one that hooked me line and sinker.

I know we knew the next day. But I don't recall how soon we got the tapes. Didn't take long. We were pretty stoked on the whole thing (well, I was). Would have liked to have gone but I was still pretending to go to school. Dropped that charade after this semester though.

If I had pledged my fraternity a semester earlier, I would have gone to this show.  Unfortunately, because I was pledging during fall 94, my soon-to-be fraternity brothers were not going to take a pledge down to Glens Falls with them, as that would have seemed like preferred treatment.  I do know that they had a blast and that we listened to the White Album a bunch in the house over the next few months.

Unless the musical costume was Otis Day and the Knights, who even cares?

SET 1: Suzy Greenberg, Foam, If I Could > Maze, Guyute, Stash, Scent of a Mule, While My Guitar Gently Weeps

ENCORE: The Old Home Place[1], Foreplay/Long Time[1], Tweezer Reprise

[1] Acoustic.

The Old Home Place and Foreplay/Long Time were performed acoustic. While Mike tuned up for Foreplay/Long Time, Trey talked about the fact that the Bangor Auditorium and Nectar's are both on Route 2, so the band had been playing on that road for eleven years. This version of Tweezer appears on A Live One. Trey teased Stairway to Heaven in Suzy Greenberg and Possum contained I'm a Man (Spencer Davis Group) teases. The second Old Home Place in the soundcheck was acoustic.

^^^What a fantastic show!  They certainly gave all they could on 10/31.  After a much needed day off, they were back in action without all that nervous Halloween energy.  Phish could just focus on being Phish.  And they did!  Killer versions of Foam, Maze, Stash, Tweezer, and Possum.  Phish only played 1 song longer than 20 mintues in '93.  They would play 15 in 1994, with only a couple of those coming outside of fall tour.  So, here we go!
