well all right then.
a little more love for the genius himself is always nice to see.
how about one of the finest versions of I Don't Live Today?
it's from sweden, 1/9/69, the second show of the night, the first being a total disaster.
they went backstage, um, relaxed a bit, came out and went off.

Nice one, the date on that is 3Sept.70 from K.B. Hallen(venue).  Some consider that show Jimi's last, truly great performance.  I'd have to agree> its a smoker

I'll admit I love the BBC sessions.  One of my favorite shows.  I'm curious, does anybody have any shows where Jimi added the horns?  I've always heard he tried to do the miles thing, but he wasn't allowed to do that.  Anybody have any recordings of this?
Can we talk about the Dead?  I'd love to talk about the fucking Grateful Dead, for once, can we please discuss the Grateful FUCKING Dead!?!?!?!

I have a track called South Saturn Delta where he applys horns recorded during what was the Electric Ladyland sessions, May 1968.  Its ok, nothing too crazy.  Its actually a comercial release.
When Miles and Hendrix first got together I think there was alot of mutual respect.  The story goes Miles demanded $50K upfront before entering a studio w/ Hendrix.  Miles was not a naive man, any sessions done w/Hendrix and later released commercially would be a stream of cash for both.
Although they never actually recorded "offically", they often hung out and jammed acoustically as described in the recent bio, Room Full of Mirrors.

I thought hendrix hired his own horn players and did a few shows before the record company pulled the plug.
I could be wrong.

He hired a few percussionists, Jerry Velez and Juma ????? who helped(or hindered) Jimi's first post-Experience project, Gypsy Sun and Rainbows(his Woodstock unit).  I guess Jimi's corrupt manager Michael Jefferys wasn't pleased w/ Jimi's new band and did what he could to destabalize it.
I really think the sound Hendrix was going for w/ additional percussion was Santana's.

^I agree.  I was just on wikipedia reading up on his music history.  I always wonder where the music would have gone had he not died.

Before the arrival of Jimi's signature 1970 flamenco influenced Hey Baby, embryonic versions recorded previously shed light on the songs beautiful evolution.

One example is this New Rising Sun that was recorded at LA's TTG studios on 23Oct.68(the 2 year anniv. of Jimi's first recording session w/ Chas Chandler):

Another is this stunning demo titled Hey Gypsy Boy recorded almost 5 months later w/ Buddy Miles at the Record Plant in NYC, 18March69:
