Another live Hendrix gem, this set burns and is arguably one of Jimi's all-time best performances: first show 30May1970 Berkeley Community Theatre, Berkely CA.

edit - great quality, the Star Spangled Banner > Purple Haze was missing so I used the Aud version from ATM 175-176 to create a seamless listen.

Enjoy!

Thanks. I have the second show which was released by Experience Hendrix in 2003.

yes I have that set as well, I'm hoping EH releases the first set as well.  I heard their next planned release is Royal Albert Hall from Feb.1969 both audio and video.  we'll see...

RAH 1969 would be really cool. Would love to see the video.

Oh! That! No, no, no, you're not ready to step into The Court of the Crimson King. At this stage in your training an album like that could turn you into an evil scientist.

QuoteHendrix didn't tune his guitar down a half step as he usually did at all other shows and on most of his albums. Instead, he stayed in standard tuning.

interesting little fact,  I know w/ the Band of Gypsys he and Billy were tuned down a whole step to D so Jimi could sing easier.  I heard that EH had finally made it through all of the legal and financial processes in obtaining the original video/stock, supposedly there is a total of 18 hours of footage from both 18-24Feb.1969 RAH shows w/ additional footage covering dates from their earlier Jan.1969 European tour, RAH Soundcheck footage, various backstage and footage from Jimi's Apartment.  I heard one rumor that they are planning on having the movie be a full theatre release ala Isle of Wight in some select cities.  24Feb.1969 is truly a great show, psyched to hear the remastered, uncut "Stone Free!"

yes but the original master reels w/ out the editing.  I have this version also, EH/rumors are saying the new version will be of kick-ass quality.  This one definitely gives us a nice preview of what we'll see in that even during some of the songs on this Room Full Of Hendrix - 4Reel Productions version, they pan into scenes of Hendrix walking w/ some hotty to his limo on his way to the airport or RAH and him hosting friends post-show.

Bump

The Jimi Hendrix Experience box set hits the shops again.  Expanded with four tracks, but nothing spectacular.
