So I'm one or two episodes behind and this road trip is wearing thin for me and has my wife finally declaring after all these years that nancy is a "bad mother" and no longer willing to watch.

Does the spiral just continue into suck?

Yes.  Every year I somehow get sucked back into it.  Mostly just because it can still be funny, even if the story sucks.  But after this year I'm definitely done (unless they announce that next year is the last, then I'll watch it just to see how they end it).

Looks like next season will be its last.  This would be a good thing.
