Damnit! Still no Indy dates. Might have to look into making the Chicago show happen.

Or come rage it with me in STL! Indy can't be more than a 4 hour drive, right?

Just over 4 hours really, a straight shot across I-70W. I made the trip quite a few times for Phish and even made it once for The Other Ones.

You haven't lived until you've had a robot shart in your ear and followed along in the live setlist thread while it happens.

only slept for 3 hours tops due to this gnarly cough that came out of nowhere.

Hope I don't get too sick to go to Dallas Friday. I only get to see these guys 2 or 3 times a year....

enjoy the show tomorrow LB and zimbra (if you are going too).
this weekends shows are going to be attempted to be streamed.

I'm in a very serious need of a getaway so I am hitting the  DC shows next weekend.  just need to figure out how I'm getting there and where I am staying.  it'll be just what I need though.

If you really must know, I thought the show was pretty damn impressive. Like I said before, the last time I saw moe. was wayyyyy back in the day, so this show was pretty re-eye-opening. With a little help from my friends  :beerbang: and  :smoke: I was able to enjoy the show despite the fact that I only got 2 hours of sleep the night before and had classes all day long  :frustrated:. First set rocked pretty hard. Seemed like it took the first couple of songs for them to get on there feet, but no worries. Head was the only song I knew from the 1st set and I still think that song is bad-ass. Now,the 2nd set is what made me want to go see moe again. Even though I was exhausted after the first, I knew I had to stick around. These guys don't do a whole lot of improv but it is definitely there. I just couldn't believe how many themes and transitions those guys go through in one of their longer songs. It was like they had 5 or 6 segments of each song and they cycled through them at least 5 or 6 times. Dueling guitars is fucking sick too. I dig the country rock style, but they only dabbled in some other genres here and there during the show I attended. I made it through the whole 2nd set, bolted home, went to sleep, and opened my place of employment at 6am. I'm definitely trying to find some good shows to listen to, so If you guys have any recommendations, other than the ones recently listed on this thread, that would be real cool of you to do that.

DoW

thanks.  I liked this show a lot on paper which is why I was curious to hear how it was at the show.
I'll start with listing 5 shows.  if you want more, then I'll list more
6/29/10 http://www.archive.org/details/moe2010-06-29.flac16 - second set is a round robin set where each band member takes a turn seguing into the next song.  the purpose of the set is not a full band improv but it is still improv.

4/3/11 http://www.archive.org/details/moe.2011-04-03 - this is a fan written setlist for his 200th show and is pure heat.

9/3/11 http://www.archive.org/details/moe.2011-09-03 - 3rd set (set 2 at night) is just flat out awesome imo.  I wouldn't call all the sets heat but that last set is worth the listen

12/4/10 http://www.archive.org/details/moe2010-12-04 rescheduled halloween show.  show featured a new song written by each band member.

10/16/10 - http://www.archive.org/details/moe2010-10-16.akg483-v3.flac - their return to the state theater.  actually the 2nd show after the state reopened.  this isn't a show that you will be saying that it took them a couple songs to get going.

ok.  and a 6th
7/4/10 http://www.archive.org/details/moe2010-07-04.tlm170.flac16 a bunch of bust outs and a very good show

those are all fairly recent shows.  bunch of oldies that are amazing as well

and props for opening up shop at 6am.   :beerbang:

moe. killed last night. super fun show.

first set was by far my favorite. I remember Timmy Tucker being the highlight for the first set. I'll need to go back and re listen to set II, as I was shitcanned drunk by that point, but there were definitely some highlights.

The night was topped off by killin' some In And Out Burger. They just built one in Dallas. I believe the closest one before that is Las Vegas. Haven't had it since Fest8. So good.

More thoughts to come after a re listen. I'll probably get around to it tomorrow...
