Title: Mud the Otter
Post by: G. Augusto on May 01, 2011, 08:07:41 PM
I want a band thread, too!

Here is last night's show.
I used the Tascam DR-07 to record this one.
A little over driven in spots, but still a pretty good capture.

Sick.

I threw on the huge "Jam" first -- sounds like I'm about to get my  on!

Sound quality sound pretty damn good to me.  Those little Tascams are pretty impressive at times.

Can't wait to check out the rest of the show, especially the TAB cover!

eta: The Jauntee/Boombasnap/Mud the Otter joint show is now a MUST!

We usually write them beforehand.
The first half of last night was written and the rest was just chosen at the moment.
29 Minute Jam was not on the original setlist...

It's funny how our pre-show funk cuts really sank in.

I played The Horse at our second show back in '95.
This was our only other Phish/Trey cover.
Really was prompted my Ferby's comments the other night.
Was fun to learn it and throw it in the middle of a Sandwich.

First set sounds a little better than the second as I had to move the recorder during the break to FOPT.

My error. I totally spaced on posting the link here the other day.
In addition to be way overserved, I also served as the wedding MC, introducing first dances and speeches and being the iPod commander for the ceremony, cocktail and dinner.
Then the Otter blasted loads directly in the crowd's mouth.

I wish it were 20 minutes longer.  The delay helps really fill out the sound, since you guys don't have a keyboard player, correct?.  I'm on my 3rd listen already.  The airplane-flyover part is interesting.

It really gets serious at 2:20, though.  This shit is awesome.  It reminds me of an awesome part in a U-Melt song, which has this insane 16th-note snare build-up that the rest of the band wrings tension over-top-of.  You'd probably dig the song, it's called "Missed".  This jam, "ABITW1" and "Missed" are the same color in my head, a deep dark blue.

At 6:47, it would be wayyy cool if you went up to the 4th and then came back down.  I love the shit that's cycling underneith, that quasi-feedback stuff.  This is fucking great shit man.

Thanks.
There's another clip up top that you'd might like to equate to airplane sounds.

I listened to both of these yesterday, the first definitely has some Earthless feel, which is awesome, and they both had some Tame Impala influence to me. Needless to say, I liked them both.

Finally got around to listening to this the other night. Somewhere around the 8 minute mark I hit a wormhole and found myself back in December of 95. So, thanks for that!

It would be awesome to see a Jauntee/MTO double bill. At least it would be for me.
