sometimes this song rocks some times it lays a big giant steaming turd in your ears...this one was somewhere in between, Like some one tried to leave a turd in your ear, but was only able to let out a loud stinky fart.

Got around to listening to this one this week, pretty sweet show although Trey lays on the effects a bit too much at times, although I suppose that's typical of 99 shows.

Wolfman's to start things off was nice and funky, you can hear the rest of the band trying to go into Sally but Trey is pretty oblivious.  I can imagine the onstage chatter:

"hey Trey didn't you hear us trying to go into Sally?"

"yeah but I was having way too much fun playing leads"

"Well, do you just want play it anyway?"

"Sure!"   :-D

The following Sally is sweet, but the Tube is frickin' awesome, Fish is playing some super tight snare action and Page is laying it down too.  Not sure what Trey is doing for the majority of the jam, but a really nice short version, exceptionally good early first set action.

Roggae is indeed a well played and placed version, kind of an underrated tune methinks, outstanding late period Anastasio/Marshall songwriting.

The beginning of Maze is fairly botched, Trey is trying to cram too many effects in but by the time it gets going it is indeed a heater.  Trey nails the peak just as well as any post 95 version.

Velvet and Hood are both good, overall a strong first set and the first three tunes funk it hard.

Farmhouse to open up set 2 is indeed the best version of the song I've ever heard, maybe if they had always played it with this much feeling I would have a higher opinion of it.  Trey is quite Hendrix-y on this one, in fact this arrangement reminds me a lot of Bold as Love in particular.

First Tube is kinda shakey IMO, the beginning must be tough because Trey rarely nailed it.

Tweezer was decent, laid back for the most part and Mike was using a few different effects, I liked that that they didn't draw it out too long when it was clear it wasn't really going to go anywhere else.

Otherwise the only notables are absolutely shredding Chalkdust and a funk throwdown of a YEM after a rough composed section.

Overall pretty enjoyable show, once you get used to the fact that Trey is more concerned with playing with his toys rather than going for tightness or playing the songs "correctly".  I give it a B+, thanks to Aug for the exposure to a show I probably would have never heard otherwise.

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.
