Anybody else addicted to Butterfly 3000 yet? I see Catching Smoke getting them some mainstream love. It's such a catchy tune, and the subject matter is pretty nice taboot.

I grabbed the Mariposa 3000 edition during the on sale. Anyone else grab one, and if so... what language did you get?

Is this album a joke?

Because it kinda sounds like it.

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

I dig it. Sure, it's got some cheesy moments, and it kind of sounds like Gizz doing a Tame Impala impression. But it's catchy and a perfect 'drinking on the back deck' kind of album.

There are a lot of elements that remind me of my favorite parts of Polygondanaland.

It sounds more like they?re making fun of Kevin Parker than ripping him off to me.

I like it .  It's gotten a lot of play around here.

It gets a lot of play over here too. It's actually the first Gizz album my wife admits to liking. We've listened to it every night that we've spent on the deck drinking since it came out.

I don't even know if I've actually even played Currents.  Maybe once when it came out.  Guess I should check it out again.

Late reply here, picked up Butterfly 3000 on vinyl recently, been digging it.  Between wax and streaming, I've heard the album 10x since Sat:P
On first listen I heard tunes that sound like Radiohead, Prince, and early Pink Floyd.  Overall the album sounds like Stu took a week or two holiday in Eastern China and ran with it.  Best Gizz album since Sketches of East Brunswick.

It really is a good album. I don't know if you saw, but they made a video for every song on the album and they released a Blu-Ray version of it today.

Yup been watching the vids on youtube.  Stu dressed as a butterfly on Catching Smoke, lol;)  Reminded me of Phish gelflings on tour:)

nab

Noob here.

I've avoided this band. Not for any particular reason than my wallet. I've discovered over the last couple of years that I actually like buying music and get more out of it when I do. And buying music means physical formats when available.

And every time I go through the stacks at the record store there's 50 million King Gizzard albums staring back at me. I never know where to start.

So if you could advise one release that would help King Gizzard "stick" for a neophyte, what would it be.

No streaming, you're actually advising me on a financial decision. I like that gamble.

Their style varies from album to album. My favorite is Polygondwanaland. It's their Prog Rock album. If you like prog, I'd start there.

I'm In Your Mind Fuzz is a great starter, too. It's the first album of theirs I heard. It gives you more of a feeling for the band.
