most?

I like  - no love - all of their stuff, but can understand issues with the 1st few albums.
things were clearly changing by Beatles for Sale and Help (late 64, early 65), and they totally left pop by Rubber Soul.

not sure what you mean by most

The Beatles.  I really dig Pink Floyd but their early Syd stuff was weak sauce in that they sound like a punk band, loud and obnoxious before they evolved into their more cerebral approach and styles of music/expression.  The Beatles were an orbital or two above(or below depending on your atomic perspective) the Floyd.  Its like comparing minor league vs. major league, the best analogy.

well, songs like taxman and drive my car speak differently.
they spent as much time in the pop realm as they did pushing the boundaries.

like i said, i dig em, a lot, but....

Nothing wrong with loud and obnoxious, being an asshole punk has made me into the upstanding citizen I am today. That being said I'm leaning towards Beatles, but I'm gonna have to let this fester a bit.

Sounding like a punk band in 1967 is pretty cool in my book, but on the other hand the Syd stuff clearly grew out of what the Beatles were doing in 65-67 and Waters himself even gives the Beatles props on the opening cut of Saucerful of Secrets.

That said I think Pink Floyd's music means more to me personally, their shit really opened up my mind to psychedelic "out there" music when I was a teenager.

In conclusion, I have no idea how I'm going to vote. . .

its def floyd for me

i know all about the beatles, and theyre great and all that

but when i listen to their music i dont sit back and revel at all that has been because of the beatles and think about how great they were

they (and everyone else i/you like) influenced a bunch of shit too, so great

but as far as what has meant more to my own personal musical timeline, floyd is more prevalent and was more important.  even if they were influenced by the beatles.  the beatles had their influences too, ya know?

Susep, I almost find it hard to express how much I disagree with you. I love the Syd Barret stuff and think Floyd went down hill after his departure. Dark Side is epic, for sure, but then they just turned into this bloated monster that took itself way to seriously. just my opinion, obviously. ymmv.

Toughest call for me so far. These are both bands that I grew up hearing *so* much that it got to the point of it being almost invisible(inaudible?). Then, there was that dead show lot experience in 88...... And then I heard the Beatles and Floyd in a way that made more sense. It was like seeing what had been right in front of me. They are both very important to me.
Beatles got my vote in the end. More heart in it.
Sorry Pink.

In my mind it is the most successful concept album of all time in terms of telling a coherent story and sustaining its themes and messages.

I think it's more of a Rock Opera than a concept album.  I know I'm splitting hairs here, however I agree.

The Wall, regardless of how easily accessible and poppy it is, is still legitimately awesome.

true
on the other hand, there has never been a band in a bubble the way the Beatles were. When they were on tour, they were basically confined to their hotel room
(where they had plenty of female visitors)
everything they did and said was under a microscope - before youtube and the interwebs.
