So 11/30/96 from Arco Arena Sacramento, CA is dropping on Friday. Super stoked on this release as it was my second show and was absolutely killer and featured some rarities I have yet to see again like All Things Reconsidered, La Grange and Brother. Kevin also confirmed it is a multitrack release.
However, the even bigger news is that both Philly 97 shows are finally going to be released as a six CD box set. Woo hoo!!! Check it out dudes:

All new 6-CD Box Set from Phish. The Spectrum '97 is a two-show complete audio box set recorded live 12/2/97 + 12/3/97 at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, PA – a legendary sports and music arena that hosted Phish nine times between December 1995 and November 2003. Capturing the band at this classic venue during their Fall Tour '97 apex, The Spectrum '97 celebrates a standout two-night run across 33 songs, and features a Soundcheck Bonus. The classic run of shows are mixed from the band's multitracks and mastered. Recorded live by Paul Languedoc, mixed from multitrack by Jon Altschiller, and mastered by Fred Kevorkian.
Nice! Those Philly shows are all timers. That Mike's groove is especially wild.
Philly '97 out of nowhere. Love it.
Pumped for this '96 release too
Those two nights in Philly were all I saw in 97. Pretty pumped about this news!
While the Mike's Groove from the first night was incredible, the second night is my favorite of the two. With the exception of My Soul (my first time live, and I thought it was just a boring blues tune at the time), everything was awesome. I even enjoyed the Fuckerpants, if for no other reason but the fact that I started noticing that I only seemed to see it at shows that were rippers.
Great news on both of these releases. Between these, the 10/29/94 and 12/2/95 releases I have nothing to complain about.
WOO-GODDAMN-HOO!!! Love me some crispy '97 releases! O0 :pbjtime:

Take a lap.
Gladly, I earned it. I put that note in there specifically for you! :-*
there is a lot of fall '96 i have never heard, but i had a great sounding copy of this arco arena show on cdr in the late 90s that got a lot of play. it's been awhile, so i'm excited to revisit it. thanks for the fall 97 news. this is fantastic!
Sweet! Mildly excited for the '96, which I'd heard about, VERY pumped for the '97s, which I hadn't.
I just noticed a "Funky Bitch Soundcheck" on disc 3 of the Spectrum release... '97 soundtracks get wierd, and I love it! Can't wait to hear this one.
A great one, two punch of releases. 12/3/97 in particular has long been a favorite. Killer Bowie, and the post Possum jam might be some of the dankest funk Phish played on that tour. A+!
Don't feel like starting a new thread... so...

yeah, welcome to a month ago
:tte:
Pre ordered.
Pollock print is nice but 75$ eh
Can we talk about why they are selling CDs? I know the Dead sells a shitload of them, but they also put some effort into liner notes and packaging. Phish just drops CDs in cardboard and ships them to people who rip them and share them with cheapos like me on the internet. At least put some fucking effort into this, Phish!!!

Yeah it would be nice if they did more than the bare minimum, but CDs are better than no CDs. And I am sure there are plenty of people out there that, like me, that will buy the CDs and will not buy a digital only release.
But, while we're on the topic, it is a shame that they no longer do the bonus disc in order to entice us into ordering directly. I'm sure as hell not ordering that lulzy Pollock, so Amazon it is.
I copped the shirt. Had the original back in the day so I felt the need to replace it.
My dude Daryl Norsen did the art. Looks nice.

Yeah, I will not buy a digital-only release. I hate that.
I'm glad they seem to have tamed a touch of the obnoxious Fishman drumming from the Gorge 98 release. The overheads are still compressed to the gills, but they're at least putting Trey and Page on top where they belong when they are in the spotlight, ie: Divided Sky.
I just don't understand why they have to change the mixing philosophy. The original Live Phish cds from that era are absolutely perfect, mix and mastering-wise. 10/31/98 is probably my favorite-sounding live album of all time.
Either way, more '97 is always welcome. Sorry if I'm ornery, hernia surgery sucks.
Philly 97 sounds great and as we all know, killer shows.
New Phish release on a sunny Saturday, life is good.

Went straight to the post Possum Jam from 12/3 this am, so good.
Been listening to this Spectrum release for two days... great stuff. But...
Does it seem like the cymbals are really loud throughout. It's driving me a little crazy. I even started comparing tracks to the same songs from other releases on from the same tour and it just seems like this release is all cymbals.
I really like the sound of it. Haven't focused too much on the cymbals but I did notice the hi-hat (which yes, I know are also cymbals) is really prominent in the mix. All in all I think it is a killer release, so much solid playing. Have only heard the LP Hi-Fi stream so I need to DL the FLACS.
heard that weird "applause sign" crowd roar after PYITE before drowned. That must have been a mixing error on the original tape right?
listening to bowie "Jesus, Fishman is playing *that* as just the verse groove? I remember why drummers always freak out about him." this happens during every archival release with a bowie.
It definitely sounds like some 'canned applause' was thrown in at some points. I thought I was maybe just hearing it wrong.
Still, an amazing release that I've listened to more than a few times already.
Trey singing Funky Bitch is pretty funny to me, too!
