yeah , i really latched onto the P & F incarnations in the late 90s early 00s.
saw alot of great shows when i was in NYC.
always felt he carried on the spirit of the band more than anyone.
no preconceptions, no pandering. just following the vibe.

I rank some of the 2001 P&F shows I saw among my untouchables. Seriously recommend checking out second set of 6/30/01 (awesome audience pull on Archive) which is pure psychedelic improv at its finest and then the entire 2001 Beacon Run that Nov/Dec. You will NOT be disappointed.

2001 Summer Tour (that I saw)
Berkley Greek 6/29, 30, and 7/01 (check out 2nd set of 6/30)
Eugene 7/3
Seattle 7/4

2001 Beacon Theater Run (First time playing in NY since 9/11 - first responders came out onstage to open shows nightly)
11/26 to 12/03 (did the 7 show run with one night off....wut!!)
the opening night was sooooo heavy. Tears everywhere, lots of first responders in the crowd. We had walked down to the WTC buildings earlier in the day. You could smell the concrete dust in the air.  The jamming and song selection that night healed many souls.
*12/01 Dicky Betts encore Mtn Jam > GDTRFB > Bid You Goodnight
*12/03 Bob Weir for entire show

i saw 7-26,27, 28 that '01 tour.
also saw beacon shows in april and oct 00.
he was great there.

actually hadnt thought about the post 9 11 thing.. just checked my first show after it was mmw for halloween at the beacon

I was supposed to be at that MMW Halloween show but our pumpkin harvest was a little delayed that year, so I couldn't be out of town. P&F Beacon run was my reward for a long season.

That Camden show you caught was bananas. Had some good tapes back in the day. Do you remember the Tears of a Clown teases throughout the entire year, finally playing it at the Beacon? What a fucking band. Filled the Phish void that summer - along with the some amazing TAB shows. I thought, going into it, that 2001 was going to be an awful year touring wise - boy did I get that wrong.
full disclosure... the Camden show was actually a real bad scene for me.
My ex basically ODed in the bathroom during setbreak and i spent the entire 2nd set in the girls room trying to get her conscious before the cops found out. We were supposed to stay on tour after that but my friend drove us back to Long Island and dropped us back home.
Needless to say i didnt really enjoy the show x.x
we did catch TAB a few days later at JOnes BEach though.
those tours overlapping in the northeast that summer was crazy.
think i still have a P&F t shirt from that tour i really loved.

I was there. Fun show! The Spring 94 show at Mullins Center is great too. I moved to Colorado soon after, caught some subpar Dead shows in Denver and didn't make it back east for the New Years Run. So this is my last Phish show for me until Boise to open Summer tour 95.

Quote from: Caravan2001 on November 01, 2024, 06:26:30 PMI have one. It's awesome.

I will say, though, that the record label had the fucking gall to slap some GD I shared on YouTube a while back with a copyright notice. As If I was violating their IP. If Warners wants to come at me, we'll talk. But that experimental label that I used to think was interesting can go fuck itself thinking it owns Grateful Dead music.
