Okay team, I'm inching closer to building out a second home system for my office. I'm looking for recommendations on turntables & amps that won't anger my wife too much.

I might just move my Apron bookshelves up to go with this.

I've looked at some of the lower end bundles on turntablelab and scoped around on amazon but I'm not sold on or particularly excited by what I've seen. I'd probably buy a U-Turn table but they're not shipping right now due to the 'rona...

Things I need:
New turntable that doesn't suck.
Amp with:
Phono input (unless I get a TT with a build in or I'll also need a Phono stage)
Input for a CD player
bluetooth?

Small footprint would be nice.

What have you got?

Cambridge Topaz AM10 has phono and CD inputs, nice amp should pair well for your office.

Looks great but rather discontinued and seemingly scarce.
This does fit nicely what I'm looking for...

Peachtree is great but a little pricey.  I really liked their stuff when I sampled it a few years ago, however.

Thanks for starting this thread, RJ. I'm in the same situation.

This amp looks great but can't find it anywhere...

You're entitled to your opinion but I'm going to laugh at it.

And the current equivalent in their product line is more than twice the price.

I just fired up my 28 year old SONY bookshelf system that I dug out of the attic. 5 CD changer. Rocking Live Phish 02 at the moment (7/16/94). Kinda psyched to break out these CD's and a bunch of others.

Going to have to order some spare belts off eBay, it struggles a little to change the discs...

Obviously depends on your budget. If you have an amp in mind but it does not have a phono input,  a nice turntable with a built in amp is the Rega Planar 1 Plus.  Without an amp, I still like the regular Planar 1 as an "entry level" that doesn't suck. Entry level means something different to everyone though.  But if either of those fit your budget, you won't be disappointed. Might as well spend the money up front. Maybe look at pre-owned amps or for sure, open box.  Audio Technica seems to offer some good bang for the buck stuff but I don't have personal experience.  Also, while the name is cheesy, check out accessories4less.  They sell factory refurbs and are MArantz factory authorized.  Great customer service and good warranty (look at their reviews online or at Steve Hoffman).  I got a "new" $2500 amp for $1250 and it's been perfect.  Most factory refurbs are just returns with nothing wrong (or something very minor) and they are then gone through with a finer toothed comb than when they were first manufactured so I'd see what they have to offer.  Some great deals there.   https://www.accessories4less.com

ETA:  I was thinging of A4L for mainly amp or speakers, but this looks decent for a low cost TT without the need for a phono stage or amp with phono in: https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/martt42p/marantz-tt42p-auto-belt-drive-turntable-w/on-board-phono-preamp/1.html

So, rather than buy a TT with USB built in... any reason not to just buy one of these cheap little devices and pull audio straight out of the RCA output of my trusty old Tuner/Amp?

If you're not too hung up on having super high quality sound and just want to digitize records to play on MP3 because you can't find them digitally, I think it's probably worth spending $20 to find out.  I'm sure it works just as well as any TT with a USB port.

Get a torrent account and let somebody else make the vinyl rips for you.

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

I'm not really interested in the rips so much as I've had interest in people streaming my saturday and sunday morning vinyl sessions. Just OK is fine for quality.

Just use your phone for that?

Anyway, this looks pretty sweet, phono input and the price is right at $299.

Only problem is it looks hard to find right now. Maybe the old model the 9010 is still around.

My office system is a 15-20 year old Onkyo - 100W per channel - 2-channel. Right now the only input is my iMac. the speakers are old Cambridge Soundworks MC300's that were part of a surround system back in the day - from before that company sold out. It's enough to make webcasts sound pretty good, not great. Would like to upgrade to some good bookshelf or towers plus add a turntable.
