It could indeed. I don't know how long Trey is on probation for but I know that he's probably having to take random drug tests at least once a month. If he pisses dirty it's off to jail. Hopefully the people around him will help keep him away from that shit.

I'm cautiously optimistic. It's not like Phish is doing a several-month tour or anything. 3 shows in march, 15 shows in June (including 4 nights at Bonnaroo). The June tour is over the course of 18 days. That's not even 3 full weeks of Phish tour. In October, Trey's tour was 8 shows. I think doing these short tours are what we can expect, and I hope that it's short enough that Trey can keep it together.
yeah, I hope so too. And the fact that he did the whole Classic TAB thing and was really looking good through the whole thing, and now. I just also know that one thing leads to another, and I am not as worried about him as much as idiots who try to get into the inner circle by hooking him up....

This is actually a great video... there is NO better example of what heroin does to you: Heroin had such a hold on Trey, that he didn't care about snorting it onstage... at their last show... in front of tens of thousands of people, at the site and in the theaters... during the last song... ON CAMERA.
THAT, my friends, is what heroin does to you: It makes you not care. It makes itself the absolute center of your universe. It renders everything that happened before it completely meaningless.
When I was using, I spent SOOO much energy on hiding it from my parents, and sweated it SO much. I worried constantly that they would find out. It was pretty much my #1 concern, having them find out.
And I knew I had hit the bottom when I realized that I no longer cared if they knew. It takes you THAT far. I told my mom, at around 1 or 2 in the morning, with my best friend Steve with me, that I was a junkie. I no longer cared if my parents knew that I was a junkie, that every time I would come home and go into the bathroom, I was tying my belt around my arm and shooting heroin.
I still remember the thought process that brought me there: If I didn't care about something, then it couldn't affect me. If I didn't care about missing work, it wouldn't bother me. If I didn't care about losing my real friends, then it wouldn't have any effect on me.
Now, imagine that with Trey. Imagine how far Phish had fallen from his attention. He didn't care if 50,000 people saw him engage in the behavior that was destroying one of the most magical things humanity has ever experienced. Thats a powerful thought.
yet people still readily pop hydrocodone (Lortab, Vicodin) and think it perfectly okay......
I just hope this video will further reinforce the attitude that all of us (I hope...) have towards heroin and hard drugs, and will further drive us to do what we can to keep Hampton and Summer Tour full of clean, positive vibes.
