It was brilliant, as usual.
Damn, I thought it was next week. And like a jackass I was actually watching an episode from last season on Sunday night too (the read through where Leon pretends to be Danny Duperstein and the great "She has a rash on her pussy" line). Well, at least I have something other than another anticlimactic All-Star game to look forward to tonight.
I thought it was awesome. Like PG said, it usually is.
My recording cut off before the preview, so I don't know if he ends up in NYC next week or if that's still a couple weeks away. Either way, they set up the move perfectly.
"I can't believe it!!! I got Swede'd!!!"
Just watched the new episode. Im SO glad they kept Leon. "You ran that ass into the ground, right?"

I'm not so sure he's wrong. I never grow tired of it, but I would argue that is the 'central theme' of the show; his behavior gets him into all kinds of trouble. And it would be hard to argue that his behavior isn't obsessive, anxious and overall neurotic.

I loved the scene with the girl getting her first period... she is literally having the worst moment of her entire life, yet his level of agitation matches hers to a tee... and he gets to that point every day about something. It was brilliant having him match her on that level.

QuoteCritics Laud Larry David, International Relations Genius
Weeks before the eighth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm premiered on HBO, we were hearing that the season's third episode, "The Palestinian Chicken," where a Palestinian chicken restaurant moves in next door to a much-beloved Jewish deli in Westwood, was one of the show's best ever--"an instant classic," in the estimation of Variety's Brian Lowery.
If anything, that undersells the daring of the episode, which aired last night. As Hit Fix's Alan Sepinwall notes, the entire episode was "layed out as a parody of both Israeli/Palestinian tensions and the Ground Zero mosque kerfuffle." The episode's basic conceit, explains The AV Club's Meredith Blake, is that the Palestinian chicken restaurant turned "Larry's ostensibly liberal friends...into conservative, pro-Israel reactionaries" whose arguments against the restaurant's location "sound a whole lot like those made by opponents of the 'Ground Zero Mosque' last year ('It's insensitive. Can't they open a few blocks uptown?')." Those aren't topics many television comedies strive to cover, and certainly not with the "'Did they really just go there?' element that Larry David's HBO sitcom thrives on," writes The Wrap's John Sellers. Sellers explains:
"Take, for instance, the following exchange, and imagine it being said by, say, two guests on "Nightline," or by co-workers at your office:
"'I like you,' says an Arab woman, flirting with a balding older man with a New York accent.
"'What's not to like?' he replies.
"Eh, you're a Jew.'
"Now put that in the context of an exchange between Larry David and a scorchingly hot, though extremely anti-Semitic, purveyor of addictive rotisserie chicken, and you have a stellar comedic moment."
Along with being breathtakingly funny, Blake argues, the episode made a persuasive argument for the David Doctrine in international relations. "There's something kind of brilliant about Larry's hedonistic approach to diplomacy," observes Blake. "[N]egotiations, sanctions and suicide bombs won't get Palestine anywhere; great sex and delicious chicken will." That David had the confidence to go ahead with the episode, and make a chicken-and-sex-based approach to peace in the Middle East seem almost viable, is a testament to his unique position in American comedy. "Like his collaborator Jerry Seinfeld, David sees the world through a prism of potential-joking," explains Entertainment Weekly's Ken Tucker. "Neither of them is overtly political, nor do they seek to break taboos in a latterday Lenny Bruce sense. On Curb, jokes about religion and ethnicity are cast in terms of specific people in particular situations whose outrage, whether genuine or feigned, can be satirized merrily."

Truth. Also, Treme.
If Treme lasts as long as the Wire or Sopranos it will go down as the greatest show of all time.
I've been a little behind this season, but I've now watched up through the "Social Assassin" episode. Loved the hell out of it.

Great episode. I'd definitely put it up there with Palestinian Chicken and The Hero as my favorites so far.
Next week with Michael J. Fox looks pretty good too.
Overall, I've been a little disappointed with this season. There's definitely been some hilarious lines, but the full episodes have fallen a little flat for me (with the obvious exception of the Social Assassin). I just don't find that I am as excited for next week at the end of an episode as I used to be. That said, this week's was very good although I found myself hoping Buckner dropped the baby (been watching too much Louie).

One of the most hilarious shows of all time IMO. Can't wait to see what they come out with next.
I'm constantly re-watching episodes and laugh my ass off every time!

Looks like I'll need to get HBO again
You just need the app at this point. I think it's like $10 a month.
This could go in the MLB thread as well...

Fatwa: The Musical, was one of the funniest ideas I've ever heard. :hereitisyousentimentalbastard
It's been really good so far!
Another great season!
I was at synagogue a few weeks ago and in the sermon the Rabbi referred to Larry. He's a huge Curb fan!

yep. off to a great start.
An unsaven, scuzzy Jeff being confused for Harvey Weinstein was so damn hilarious. Definitely a great start!
Happy New Year, guys!
Gotta wait until the wife is asleep, not home, or preoccupied before I can watch the new season.
