Announcing four unique shows at Sphere in Las Vegas. April 18, 19, 20, 21. A ticket request period is currently underway at https://tickets.phish.com ending December 11 at 9AM PT/Noon ET. Complete ticketing info can be found at https://phish.com/tours/sphere-2024/. These will be Phish's only shows at Sphere in 2024.
Boom! That'll be amazing.
I just got a room at the linq. About 20 min walk to sphere. Stoked!
$181? Yikes. Guess there's still the cheap seats. Man, it sure pays to be rich.
Well there you have it.
Any way you slice it, it's going to be a completely unique Phish experience. I like that.
Gonna go ahead and call a Round Room opener for this run.

U2 hired these guys to do the screen treatments at the Sphere. I wonder who Phish will be working with and what they'll come up with.
https://www.treatmentstudio.com/project/266_u2-uv-achtung-baby
They are working with Moment Factory. MF did the visuals on the exterior of the sphere to announce the run.
They've worked with them for a while from magnaball drive in set up to the earth day msg stuff.
it's awful quiet around here. did anyone actually score tix? or does anyone even know anyone who got tickets? pretty insane odds stacked against the fans to put in through phish, i think.
Me and two friends had computers going during the travel package onsale. Between us we snagged one 4-person package and a 2-person. Had at least one other package in our clutches before a website glitch. So the onsale experience and UI was needlessly maddening but it wasn't impossible. I was talking to some neighbors the other night who put in the lotto and, yeah, I'm nervous for them.
I was unfulfilled.
I know a few people that got through on the packages but only a couple that scored from PTBM
I scored an 8 person package last week. I didn't even get out in the queue, just directed to the checkout. It's never been easier for me. That said, I'm helping with the on sale tomorrow. LFG
Welp, see you guys in fucking Delaware I guess.
People are apparently 40K+ deep in the Ticketmaster waiting room, lol.
I was 4500 in queue and sold out before I got in
Yeah at one point saw 46k in front of me lol.
Two friends got 4 tix each for the 18th.
I got one for my bday 4/19 in 110 row 28 right before the overhang so wonder how that'll be.
IMHO, all the dust will settle... phish phans will be phish phans... meaning people will bail. Tickets will be available to those who want them.

Was talking to my friend over the weekend that went to U2 and they said if you get one of the under awning 100 level seats if you talk to the usher they will give you a floor wristband too but it's super crowded on the floor.
Also not a lot of dancing a lot of seats in the upper levels you have to stay seated?

Apparently those upper levels are STEEP. Plus you'll block the view of anyone who doesn't want to dance?
So if it's not for safety, then I'm sure they won't be enforcing that during a Phish concert.
people behind me were pissed I was standing/dancing at the last War on Drugs show I saw
I ended up sitting down to appease them, and it turns out passing out in your chair is a lot more fun 😴
I got told to sit at a King Gizzard show of all places a while back.
Went ahead and told them to STFU and stand up too.

Hicks and I went to MMJ several years back and someone told us to sit down and Hicks turned around and said "This isn't a library, this is a rock show" lol. Shut them up pretty quick.
The last couple of years we saw slayer the balcony was all sitting down. And I will tell you when a 300 pound, face tattooed long bearded slayer fan tells you to sit down, you sit down.
So we either got front row of the balcony which is OK for sitting, or the very last row so we could stand.
The only show I've sat for in the last 15 years or so was the acoustic Trey show at the Murat Theater.
And I've sat through some shitty opening bands here and there, but never the band I came to see.
I did once sleep through a Live concert in the 90's. I wanted to see the opening act, Lucious Jackson, and my ride wanted to see Live. After the LJ set, I laid down on the lawn and went to sleep.

God, ain't that the truth...
Man that overhang in the 100 level seems like such a design flaw. Trying to trade a 4/19 ticket for a 4/20 and no one wants to bite cuz it's obstructed view lol. Also the obstructed view tickets are 700$ on StubHub :o you can't even see the visuals!
Depends on the row, the overhang starts around row 21 but isn't that bad until 26 or so.
Yeah most the cheap ones on the hub are row 25-35
It says row 23 is a clear view. 828$

... The theme is probably 'Melted faces'.

"About" 20 songs a night :o

great write up dave! i'm already scared for the yem vocal jam and i won't even be there. might pop into vegas for a night during a summer camping trip to see a night of dead and co. i gotta see this place!
Nice right up Dave, getting pumped for the shows. Couple questions:
1) How was the pat down to get in? Invasive or nah?
2) Were people blazing in the Sphere? I would imagine the U2 crowd probably smokes slightly less weed than a typical Phish crowd, but curious if people were firing up? You could bring a bong into MGM and the ushers would probably help you light it.

1. not so much a pat-down as a walk through metal detectors. They're concerned with weapons more than anything.
2. There were ushers at the top of sections - zero security once the show started. I can't imagine it any different, but who knows. U2 crowd is very different from Phish crowd and Phish is only the 2nd act ever in this room. I didn't see anyone light up, but definitely smelled it coming from someone near me at a few spots.
I imagine security is on par with MSG
metal detectors, facial recognition, etc.
any chatter out there on what the theme may be?

All just guesses at this point. Don't think I've seen any real rumors.
one plausible guess I saw was Four Seasons over four nights... or four eras of Phish. 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 - but that would actually kinda suck, imo.

Setlist threads were when we would drunkenly listen to streams and type to each other about the show as it went. They were always locked when the show ended.
The other we discuss shows after the fact.

The Mike's -> Lifeboy -> Paug is what I was kinda hoping the whole thing would be. That was amazing. That and Farmhouse. I also really enjoyed the Carini visuals. The view from the top back center must have been insane!
The Wolfman's was like it was CK5 lights being 'sampled' all over the dome, which I thought was super cool.

Pretty sure that Jeff is right here., kinda... The 4 Spheres of Earth Geosphere, Hydrosphere, Biosphere, Atmosphere
Night 1 = Geosphere (Dirt, rocks, earth)
Night 2 = Hydrosphere (water)
That leaves Biosphere (life and living things) and Atmosphere (air) for nights 3 and 4.

Almost everything about the Sphere is amazing. What is not amazing is the bathroom situation. If you are on the floor or in 100s there are a ton of bathrooms down in the main atrium, no issue. If you are in 200,300 or 400s, there is one bathroom at each end with 6 urinals. 12 pee spots for the entire section. The lines were insane. So weird for a modern day venue.
No covers

I know RR always steered me in the right direction.
Welp, that makes sense.
what an amazing run, truly.
the amount of ohhhs and ahhhs each night was awesome, felt like everyone was just locked in (though there were plenty of talkers around)
in a run with many highlights, mine were:
YEM - took me a minute to "get" the visuals for this one, but by the end of the car wash this was probably the most psychedelic thing all weekend. Then the dog happened 🤯
Pillow Jets - What a beautiful and surreal scene, flying/gliding through a forest, then all of a sudden we were flying through fireworks. Worked SO well with the music, I was peaking and I almost didn't even realize it, until I did
H20 - Might have been the "peak" for me. I don't usually cry during shows but I did for this, felt like the culmination of the whole weekend. Plus, felt like we travelled to the sub atomic universe and met God, again 🤯
WTU - watching the stars slowly descend on top of us, is all literally flowing through the air, then watching as the band starts to disintegrate into the same stars, just watching them melt away 🫠
Just wanted to get these thoughts out before I lose them, but there were many more highlights.
:wtu:
A few more shots
Man what amazing bday weekend.
As everyone said the visuals were pretty wild.
I was top 400 first night and the sound was definitely wonky; sounded like Mike was playing behind me but only for half the time.
Sounded much better under the awning since there was a monitor directly above you but didn't get the ceiling visuals.
Sounded great 7th row 101 page side where I was the last night.
Favorite visuals
The jam vehicles during tweezer!
The under water during theme
The pillow jets? Forest and fire works
Yem car wash
The pollock temple of doom during taste
The first tube wormhole
Not sure how I would like seeing many other bands there but king gizz would be pretty wild.
Also thought the logistics would be better for a brand spanking new place. The bridge entrance was an insane bottle neck. Luckily figured out those outside entrances were quicker and not as stuffy to wait in.
Ended up getting miracled (shoutout Jason from LA) in the last night too which is pretty wild considering all the ticketless out front all evening.
All in all great time wish saw more paugers only got to see WtU!

you don't have to lie.
I would say I was slightly let down by Thursdays visuals, Life Saving Gun and Tweezer in particular.
Night one felt like the visuals never really evolved with the jams, so that was disappointing.
And that may be in part why the next three night were so awesome, because I kind of wasn't expecting too much (visually) going back in
Yea boTT felt underwhelming and that Tv one.
Maze was pretty cool

epic
ridiculous....Drew did all 4 nights, I'm curious what night this was.
Adding to the Drew story is Trey sending him a Blender and a note!
I found a 360° video taken during 4/21's encore. You can spin the camera around to watch the dome, or the dudes crotch.
That 360 camera somehow manages to make the whole thing underwhelming. You'd think it'd be great, but no.
Agreed, I posted it after about 15-20 seconds of watching it. They have a few other 360 shots from the same spot that night, but I prefer the webcast.
However, if Phish had done the entire webcast this way from the center of the place, I think that could've been pretty kick-ass!
ok, after giving each night a few spins, here's my thoughts.
grain of salt, especially since I wasn't there, and only watched the webcast for N2.
top 5 favorites in order
wave of hope
axilla
fuego
tweezer
ghost
notables
light saving gun
wolfmans
sand
dwd
light
dwd was huge with regard to length, but it sorta feels really same-sy.
honestly the whole run was feeling like that the first spin through. it all felt pretty typical to the 4.0 sound. but with each successive listen, things start to stand out more. like the dwd, will probably keep getting better to me.
lots of other little nuggets to be had too, but I think most of them are probably "had to be there":
WTU
H20
Theme
Taste
anyways, looks and sounds like a great time. I'm just glad they are still out there pushing boundaries and giving me joy
