OK - so Jimi is the best guitar player who ever walked the planet.
Also, his songwriting is under-rated, imo

But, as a band - I've gotta go with the Allman Brothers. Duane leads the pack of mere mortals following Jimi (along with EC, SRV, and Derek), never mind Dickey in his prime. Berry Oakley was one of the best bass players in his day - same for Woody and Oteil
Never was there a 2 guitar attack like this, not to mention what the rest of the Brothers did along with them

I'm loving all the clips everyone is citing in the different threads. Making for a pleasant morning of listening.  :music:

Man, the Allman Brothers Band was something to behold in their day. Twin guitars, twin drum kits. Sheer firepower. It's crazy to me how much I love the twin drums approach when it comes to ABB yet my favorite Dead era is single-drummer Dead.

I may have to listen to Ludlow Garage today.
I've been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

Mitch Mitchell was one of the best most overrated rock drummers ever too.

FYP.

Still voted Jimi, though.

I'm not sure if I followed this thread correctly, but what guys are saying is that Dave Thomas sold crack in inner-city DC in the mid-80's, right?

I have listened to that album more times than I can count, and I have been playing drums since I was 12.

Sorry bro.

Opinion'd.
