Tennessee schoolkids "cover the shit out" of 46 & 2 by Tool.
I'm lovin' the piano, but can't help but get down with the drummer, too.

Nice! Although my little girl pointed out that the bass needs a bit more power. I concur.

Agreed. The performances were all really great but the mix favored the drums a bit too much for me. It distracted me from the rest of the band.

Kudos to the girl having to sing Maynard's crazy ass melody.

Can we talk about the Dead?  I'd love to talk about the fucking Grateful Dead, for once, can we please discuss the Grateful FUCKING Dead!?!?!?!

Let me explain - this band was like not quite as good as the Samples at doing this type of music in the mid-90's. But this tune here gets stuck in my head ALL THE TIME. I mean, I never listen to this band. EVER. I don't even like them. But this song is drilled so deep in my psyche it can never leave. I actually really like the hook... the whole "Why am I yellow?" refrain is the part that gets it's hooks in me.

Let me explain further. A friend of a friend of mine used to manage Strangefolk... so we all went to see them at the Wetlands one night... the Winebottles opened the show... We were all dosed to the gills. I remember the Winebottles set blowing me away with the caveat of "I really need to hear this band sober, because I have a feeling it's not as good as it seems right now." I was right. But from then on, this Yellow refrain would get into my head at random times. It's been 20 years since that night and I still get this song in my head about once a week. I walk around singing "Why am I... yellow. Why am I... yellow yellow."

/sweet blog.
I've been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul

Oh! That! No, no, no, you're not ready to step into The Court of the Crimson King. At this stage in your training an album like that could turn you into an evil scientist.

I want better than average skill
I want a million dollar bill
And I want it all in a Pill

I've watched/listened to this about a dozen times over the last couple of days...  The drummer still slays me...

I enjoy several songs on the Made Up Mind album, but this is my favorite mayhaps:

Dysfunction and itemized lists of people's failures are where it's at.

I use records for that and don't have to justify it to my friends.

I was just having a conversation with someone last night about good bands with really unfortunate names. I'd say they qualify.
I like the 4 guitar approach though.
I'd rather dwell in some dark holler where the sun refuses to shine, where the wild birds of heaven can't hear me when I whine.
