In uploading my newest Caravan's Cuts (the ripping Black Eyed Katy from 11/23/97) I was wondering which is the nastiest Moma out there? Any suggestions?
6/24/00.
2/26/03 and 7/6/00 get my vote for Moma Dance (not included Black Eyed Katy)
I don't think they played Moma Dance in august 93.

They didn't "play" it but you can clearly hear it teased in the 8/28 YEM.
11/2/98 is a great version that gets overlooked due to the Harpua craziness.
11/2/98 is in fact THE BEST MOMA EVER
Mostly for personal reasons, but the 7-11-00 Moma Dance was a good version. In the pocket, but a nice deep pocket that keeps your hands warm.

I always liked that one. That whole set is solid. I'll have to go check out the 11/2/98 one, and the others.
6/24/00 gets way out there.

you're all wrong.
the correct answer is:
there are no bad Moma Dances. they are all awesome.
my vote goes to 6-24-00 as well, 11-2-98 close behind...
I'm all in with 11/2/98. My favorite. In fact, one of the only songs I can name a particular version my fav.

first I gotta say my fav. BEK is 30Dec.1997, the segue out of Sally is da, da, dank.
For Moma I dig:
30Dec.99
18Feb.03 > outro jam is lame I know but everything before that rips.
15July98
another dope moma is the one in brooklyn 03
wow, some fantastic ones listed here.
i really love Brooklyn (which was 04, btw ;) )
however, 11/14/98, like everything else that show, is a pristine example.

I was just gonna say that, ya beat me to it. Of the ones I've caught that is def my fav.
I always loved it when they pulled that tune out. I'm a big fan of the funk, guess I got into Phish just at the right time.
after further review 24June00 is mediocre imo.

QFT....it's so thick and fat sounding too.....
Edit: I remember playing that version in my office one day and one of my co-workers was like "What is this, some porno soundtrack?" I though that was funny....
So I grab my archive box (containing 100 dvds) and flip the left row open right up to 19981029-19981102. It's on now, just past the first and now second orgasmic little guitar thingy. I imagined myself hangin' with Gumbo as your shit is FLOORED. Even Page soars in this, especially right before the singing part.
It's better to listen to in context if you have the chance. The preceding Mango and following YEM ain't bad.
By the way, who's ready for Bears-Saints... Go Bears.
And I forgot about the ending to this one... This one is really good. I can't wait to be at "that place" again.

lol i'd sure like to know these orgasmic little guitar thingys.
Oh, and Disease and Mango preceded Moma, but YEM proceded it.
I wasn't talking about disease.
SNOOOOWWWWWW,
I agree... I've never met a moma dance I didn't like.

Heard this yesterday for the first time in years, great version.
For 3.0, 1July2011 deserves merit.
I'm gonna sound like a chomper here. But the BD Moma is pretty sick.
I had something called Caravan's Cuts?!?! I obv blocked that out for good reason lol.

Unfortunately they were about as fresh as the salad bar at the Sizzler. A class action lawsuit is still pending from the e coli outbreak your "cuts" incurred.

That TyP3 II Moma from SPAC two years ago. The only redeeming moment of the run. Everything else was recycled :sbw:

I do love the BD version, definitely my favorite from the 2009+ era.

longest Moma I believe, too. Was just relistening to the BD today at work
11/14/98 as an entire show hold a special place in my heart, as i took some absolutely FANTASTIC mushrooms for that show, but in my 1000x listening, i've also always thought this Moma was straight fire.
necro moma?
inspiration... gotta go listen to some now. 1st that came to mind was Dcreek 98... i think. :?

I think this is a really good version of Moma too (I love this entire show, should be a LP release, with the Ghost from 11/11/98 as filler), but I think it is really good because it has that long full-length Tweezer intro to it
Not really sure it is that stellar without it.

Nite 2 Set 2 Fuego, Light
Was recycled?
I mean, I get it.....those songs get played a LOT at SPAC.....but jeeezus, those were damn good nuggets from the other 2 nights.....
and yes.....that MOMA is the bees knees.....
