My receiver supports the format, at least when it's coming from my blu-ray player. I've been listening to a lot of the Steven Wilson remixes of old progressive rock albums that are available on Blu-Ray as 5.1. I see that a remix of Chicago II is available as 24/96 FLACs but wasn't sure how to go about listening to them. Do you just burn a data CD?

so it depends on how it supports it. If it's referring to discs, then you'd need to burn it to a Blu-ray disc to realize the higher bitrate and sample rate. But I know some receivers accept a USB drive and can read straight off of those.
Personally my home set-up is:
Computer or streamed from home server>optical>DAC>RCA>Amp>Speakers
So I play my 24 bit straight from my HDD
Just say, "Alexa, play Chicago II in 24 96 flac"

Yeah, I put the files on a flash drive and plug the flash directly into my receiver. It's not the most user friendly way to listen to music, but it's worth it for those rare times I want to blast a 24bit album.

Well, my receiver doesn't have a USB input, although my blu-ray player does. I tried it and it did work, however, with a fatal flaw.....it's not gapless. Of course, with Ballet for a Girl from Buchannon being comprised of 7 separate tracks, it kinda makes it pretty much unlistenable. I tried burning a data DVD but same result.
So after poking around for a bit, I found a free program....lplex...which will create a DVD .iso image out of FLACs. It's a bit primitive as there's no menu or anything but it plays the files okay and they're coming through 24/96.
