(yeah, I realize this is a really lame scenario, but i'm hopped up on
3 cups of coffee, and the thought crossed my mind this morning - not
aliens, but ways for me to trim up my harddrive - i asked myself the
question, what if i just chose 3 years? of course, in the end, i decided
i just need more HD space)

I'd be sad to miss things like all the Festivals, the later Halloweens (and Dark Side show), great 1997 Cow Funk, and some excellent later shows I saw in person...as well as earlier gems like 8/21/87, 5/26/89, the 11/16/91 YEM and the 3/13/92 Antelope craziness...
But those'd definitely be my choices, being the 93-95 snob that I am. These years, to me, still seem to have the best balance, by far, of every aspect I love of Phish. Even some things that some would argue didn't come about till later, like funky or ambient/spacey styles are there at times. They're just not as omnipresent as they later would be.
Not intended in any way to crack on other years...as I said, there'd be some things I'd miss a lot...but in the end, I'd know I made the right choice.
Choosing only TWO, on the other hand...let alone ONE...would be a nightmare :wink:

since your story - it's funny b/c that halley's jam isn't anything
special - it's so sparse in its texture.......but it's quickly becoming
one of my all-time favorite jams........it's just got that flow that i love

BTW comparing 72 Dead to 77 is like trying to size up 95 vs. 97 Phish...apples and oranges people, but Ill take 72 anyday...what can I say I like apples
nope - it's the same fruit..........'95 phish and '97 phish are comparable
b/c they're the same band........it's like saying i can't compare the born
again christian to the axe murderer........they're the same person, therefore,
comparable...........comparing phish to the dead - THAT's apples to oranges.
having said that - i appreciate the true heads' opinions........but '77 dead
does it for me, and '72 does not usually do it for me..........but that's me.
