Man, quarters 2-4 last night was the exact opposite of how this series had been going

Happy that we FINALLY didn't look like a JV team (or the Celtics)

Still not convinced that we'll win the series, but happy we at least won't get bounced in 5 playing as bad as we had been
If this is love, I'm never going home..

idk, personally im extremely happy with how the Knicks have played this postseason.
Huge steps for a very young team.
Barret, Brunson, Robinson have all had major growth imo.
vastly exceeded my expectations for this season.

Exactly, Knicks are 100% not moving on but have played well and it's an impressive showing considering it's Brunson's first season with the team.

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

i like this move putting RObert Williams in the starting lineup.
good luck Boston!

ETA:

Yikes Tatum so far in this game.
IDK what's going on in these playoffs with Boston tbh...
i suspect lack of head coach playoff experience though.

Quote from: Superfreakie on May 04, 2023, 05:27:47 PMFrom the get, I have never believed Tatum has the mettle needed to be a leader. He wilts under pressure. Great reg season guy, monster numbers, but when crunch time hits he falls apart. Last night was a hugely important game to not go down 2 in the series, at home nonetheless. And he played his worst game of the entire year??? Single digits. On the day Embiid is awarded MVP?? Coincidence? Dude is a head case.

Wowww 30 pt lead at halftime let's goooo!
Hoping for a Western conference finals in Denver!

Pretty impressive for Tatum to redeem himself like that at the end of the game and completely take over. I don't know though, both Boston and Philly seem kind of lost and weak. Game 7 is very much up in the air with these two inconsistent teams.

Over in the West, Denver, wow! I knew Phoenix was in big trouble without Ayton. They had nobody to stop Jokic from doing whatever he wanted and even though Ayton wasn't having a great series, after losing him and Paul the Nuggz were free to throw everything they had defensively at KD and Booker. Looking like Denver is cleared for take off and could very well be cruising to their first Finals appearance.

tbh i still think its more a rookie head coach putting him in the right spots.
you gotta realize who's on the other side of the ball- a coach with more playoff experience than any other coach in the league AFAIK.
Though tbh i have only been passively watching Boston this post season b/c i THOUGHT they would glide through these first few rounds lol.

also, Denver with that record 81 points in a playoff half, goddam  :beerbang:

He wilts and he's a head case. This is nothing new. This a rinse repeat of last year. Not everyone is a Jordan or Kobe etc..... Not everyone relishes pressure.

That said, Mazulla is most definitely making rookie mistakes. Game management has been questionable on more than a few occasions. But can't cry over spilt Ime now. Play the hand we have been dealt.

But he had "The Courage" to keep shooting and work his way out of his slump to ice the game in the 4th quarter.  I nearly vomited when Doris said that on the broadcast, but the simple fact is that he managed to win that game in the final 4 minutes.  Of course, if he had hit maybe a few shots prior to the 4th quarter it may not have been all that close at the end, but at least he didn't give up and wilt (as a Celtics fan, I love the double entendre of "wilt" in this context).

Courage.

As for Mazzulla, he lost three assistants during the season, the big one being Stoudamire in like March.  For a guy that was not head coach about 2 weeks before the season started and is only 34, I think he's doing OK considering that he does not have a seasoned staff to help with some of the in-game stuff.  I didn't have a problem with the not calling timeout at the end of game 4.  Tatum just needed to start the action about 3 seconds earlier on the last OT possession.  I suppose when he didn't, Mazzulla could have called a timeout and drawn up a play, but whatever...

Now just win on Sunday.  I fucking hate the sixers, just slightly less than I hate the lakers.
