QuoteWe are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX.  We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ?Top'. We will forever be connected to that "Blues Shuffle in C.?
You will be missed greatly, amigo.

You haven't lived until you've had a robot shart in your ear and followed along in the live setlist thread while it happens.

Only saw ZZTop once after growing up on their grooves. It was GOOD.
As an MTV kid, I knew them from their cheesy yet amazing videos. As I grew older I got to know the early catalog and their first 5 ro 6 records are basically unfuckwithable. Obviously Dusty was key that.

R.I.P.

I fell in love with ZZ as a 10 year old when Eliminator came out. I still love them.
Saw them I think three times over the years.
Always a good time.

Adieu, Dusty.

I burned through several cassette copies of their "Best of" album from '77 in middle school. It was fun to watch their MTV reboot and subsequent career after. Never got to see them live.

Sad news.

oh, and three years old? Way to kick an old man where it hurts, lol.

You're entitled to your opinion but I'm going to laugh at it.

I got a nice chuckle out of that, as well.

Huge bummer. I?m a big fan of this band. After years of wanting to see them, I saw them three times in under a week just by happenstance. Exact same show each night but no less thrilling.

They just had this raw power that required so little showmanship, but they tossed in the showmanship anyway. The spinning fur guitars and exhaust pipe mic stands and beards. Just so perfect for what they did.

If you?ve never watched the documentary on them, you really should. It?s fantastic. I think it?s on Netflix.
I've been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul

The Netflix is great for sure. The only decent doc on that streaming service.

Still killing it in 2003 ...
